So proud to be on the NYCDS Give Kids A Smile steering committee again this year! This past February we screened, provided flouride varnish and oral hygiene education to over 1,600 children in East Harlem (almost $188,000 of free care was delivered). There are vast disparities in health and specifically oral health among children in NYC- the children addressed in our program have oral health indicators signficantly worse than national averages. This cannot be solved in one day of service but we looking to create steps for long term dental homes and care. Thanks to all volunteers and sponsors.
