I have been thinking about our conversations and your encouragement when I led a Georgia congregation. Sage wisdom and deep affection for our people was always at the center of those conversations. Today, I am drawing from that well-spring as I must confront a similar spirit in this time - Racism.

To all the people of the struggle please continue to protest and fight for justice. We need to make the words of the Prophet ring true, "But let justice roll down as water and righteousness as a mighty stream." And, in the words of MLK Jr., "we ain't going to let no one turn us around." Happy Juneteenth Day.

None of us are safe until we protect the most vulnerable, despised and marginalized among us. This is the moment that WE ALL must stand in human solidarity for justice.

In my quiet time today, I reflected on 2 Chronicles 13:18b. There, a story is told of war between the Northern and Southern Kingdoms during Israel's time as a Divided Nation. The Kings who went to war with one another were Jeroboam and Abijah. And what is striking is that Jeroboam (Northern Kingdom) had twice as many fighting men as did Abijah (Southern Kingdom). Yet, the Southern Kingdom won the battle. So, here is my point for us, it should never matter to us that we are ou...tnumbered, overmatched or, have our backs against the wall. Doubt ought not give way to surrender... and, neither should anxiety give way to defeat. Because as a believer, we ought to stand like Abijah and the Southern Kingdom who, "...Relied upon the Lord God of their Fathers." Rely more on your faith than on the falsehoods that circulate throughout our times. Stand on the promises of God and encourage your hearts with the timeless truths of the Word. I promise you this, if you place your trust in the Father you will in no way be disappointed. God Bless you, Beloved!
