A project right in our backyard--the Adare Apartments! This four-story, multi-family apartment building is located on a steeply sloped site on Main Street leading into the heart of downtown Nyack, NY. . . THE TASK: Design the building’s structural system, specifically the foundation and the non-combustible 1st level--which provides a column-free parking level. .... . THE SOLUTION: We #designed and #engineered a structural system comprised of a precast concrete plank transfer deck, which supports the three-story wood framed construction above. Let's talk site challenges + solutions at Mosholu Gardens! . . THE CHALLENGE: an irregular "L-shaped" lot configuration on a steep incline of bedrock. .... . THE SOLUTION: we created a multi-layered design with entrances on two levels and three individualized green spaces. The foundation is pinned to the bedrock, where possible, to minimize footing width. Nothing but "Brite" smiles for this project! We provided structural engineering services for the re-augmentation of two contiguous properties to form a new 6,000 square-foot Brite Smile retail space. Renovations created a greater distinction between the retail presence at the street level, and the identity of the building. . . THE TASK: Removing portions of the adjoining party wall at the basement, 1st and 2nd levels; floor framing for the addition of new bisecting level (mezzanine) of the 1st and 2nd levels; and design of the space's signature feature-- "flying" curved stairs and glass railings.

With approval from the New York Landmarks Preservation Commission, We have been retained to provide on-call structural engineering design services for the phased restoration of the Louise Nevelson Chapel of the Good Shepherd located within the iconic St. Peter’s Church at Lexington and 54th Street. .... . For this #WaterStreet building, its historical façade was restored and a conversion added a 3-story stacked addition to the rear of the building, making room for #residential units with spacious terraces. . . #Lights, #Camera #Engineering! Performance events will fill this theater again one day. But, until then, let's talk about the #BehindTheScenes work that goes into creating a theater like this! #FlorenceGouldHall . . We provided #StructuralEngineering at the FIAF / French Institute Alliance Française's premier 5,370-square-foot venue. The entire "seating bowl" profile was dramatically altered and re-contoured, while the doors in the rear of the auditorium were centered to create a grand entrance. A new cross aisle and entry doorway in the rear provides unobstructed views from handicapped-accessible seating areas.
