Skin Myth: At-home Dermarolling is the same as in-office treatments. There's no denying that microneedling is an all-star in the world of skincare, and when done by a board-certified dermatologist, it can have an impressive impact on the look, texture and condition of skin. How it works: By creating tiny injuries to the skin, the needles (which range from 0.5-2.5 mm) stimulate collagen production and can be used for a variety of treatments including scarring and minimizing fi...ne lines and are especially effective when paired with other treatments such as radiofrequency and PRP. How it's different from Dermarolling: Not only are the needles of most at-home devices too short to make any real impact beyond helping skin to absorb products better, the misuse of the tool can do more damage than good. From skin irritation and infection to scarring, not knowing how to properly clean and/or use the device can lead to a number of serious concerns. If you're going to use these devices, be sure to follow directions carefully and sterilize them before and after every use. See them as complementary to in-office treatments, not as a replacement for them. How I can help: If you're interested in learning more about our microneedling and radiofrequency treatment and how it can benefit you, contact me and we can put together a plan that can be done safely, effectively and with little downtime. #microneedling #dermaroller #microneedlingtherapy #radiofrequency #wrinkles #wrinklesbegone #acnescarring #acnescars #collagen #Glowingskin #Skincare #skinexperts #skintightening #Skintips #greatskin #Glowup #glowyskin
Dear Dr Radha, What are the top treatments for men and women and is there a difference in how treatments are applied? The top treatments are: Neuromodulators (Botox) Volumizers (fillers)... Lasers Although these are the top treatments, the devil is in the details when it comes to application. I like to think of the anti-aging approach from the perspective of layers. Volume. Support. Texture. Symmetry. All of these layers have masculine, feminine and neutral dimensions. Each element needs to be addressed, at various points in time, either separately or together and needs to be done carefully and always keeping patient goals in mind. Men tend to have larger facial muscles, more prominent bony structures and less tendency to sag in the lower face due to beard hair and thicker skin. This is the opposite for women. Therefore, neuromodulators (botox) and volumizers (fillers) need to be used differently so as not to feminize the male or masculinize the female (unless the patient chooses this, of course). Skin texture, which I will define in the simplest form as the appearance of red or brown spots, are universally unappealing in both sexes and may be addressed more similarly with a combination of a solid skin regimen, peels and lasers. #Brotox #Fillers #Lasers #fillersformen #malebotox #botoxformen #malegrooming #LaserTreatment #BotoxFacts #FillerFacts #LaserFacts #maleskincare #Skin #dermatology #SkincareFacts #Men #Male #AntiAging #AntiAgingForMen #antiagingtreatment #antiageingskincare
Beauty Myth: When it comes to good skin, the more product, the better. Your skin is the perfect area to rely on the 'less is more' adage. I try to suggest no more than a max of three products to be used at once to avoid side effects such as irritation or clogged pores. If using three or more products, it is helpful to divide usage into nighttime and morning routines. Additionally, regimens can easily be streamlined for patients which is particularly useful for those using prescription topical treatments.
Have you noticed that you're losing more hair than usual? Though it can feel isolating (and alarming), hair loss in women is more common than you might think. In fact, it affects up to 40% of women according to the American Hair Loss Association and it can be caused by a number of factors including hormone imbalance, low metabolism, low iron, stress and recent childbirth. While losing a little over 100 hairs a day is normal, if you’re losing more hair or noticing thinning around the temples, it’s a sign to see a dermatologist. The good news is that, in many cases, hair loss is treatable. I create a bespoke multi-strategy approach for clients. This includes a combination of any or all of the following: nutrition, supplements, PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma Therapy), LLLT (Low- Level Laster Therapy), oral prescriptions and topical products.
I appreciate, respect and value my clients so much. Thank you for trusting me with your skin.
