Our daily home care recommendation, based on years of seeing what works. 1) Electric brush (sonic type better than spin brush) 2) Flossing, but other options include floss holders, interproximal brushes, Stimudents. 3) Water irrigator (sometimes called water flosser). Those three combined daily give us the best results. ... For anyone that needs a little extra help: a) A Sulca Brush does an amazing job of removing plaque at the gum line of both sides of the teeth, in areas that most people don't get with their brush or floss. It also massages and stimulates the gums. It is a superb adjunct to brushing, flossing and irrigating. You can use it when you are watching TV or stopped at a long red light. b) Sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl). It is one of the best antiseptic, disinfectants around. And it is incredibly inexpensive. It will cost $0.02 (yes that is 2 cents) per day. Add 1 teaspoon to 4 ounces of water and rinse with it or put it in your water irrigator (my preference). Clorox bleach is sodium hypochlorite, but it is too concentrated to use. At the dilution of 1 tsp to 4 ounces of water it is perfectly safe. Our white blood cells produce it naturally to destroy bacteria, viruses and fungi. It is not carcinogenic and not mutagenic and has been added to our municipal drinking water for a hundred years. That is why water borne illnesses are almost unheard of in this country. It is added to swimming pools and hot tubs (you can smell the chlorine). So NO, I AM NOT CRAZY for recommending it. We have been recommending it to patients who still have bleeding gums even after implementing everything else. We are seeing amazing improvements in the health of their gums, evidenced by ZERO bleeding points. Remember our philosophy is ZTBG - ZERO TOLERANCE FOR BLEEDING GUMS

We are very prudent prescribing antibiotics, reserving them only for serious, acute infections or patients that are at high risk of developing a bacterial infection in their heart or prosthetic joint. This article explains what we have known for a long time: https://www.drbicuspid.com/index.aspx

The only allergist/immunologist I know who does comprehensive testing of dental materials. I've heard him lecture several times and have been very impressed. https://www.facebook.com/Dr.Gadi.Avshalomov/?ref=br_rs
