The employment of proof of staking is an incredible advancement in the field of blockchain technology from not only an ease of use point of view but also an environmental point of view. This protocol allows for considerably more electric efficiency than traditional Bitcoin. ... We propose the following solution: that ADA and other proof of stake protocols are taxed upon the sale of the utility token asset. It would allow for operators to continue to receive and use their rewards and expand the network by having the ability to continue to stake on the network while not having to worry about the burdensome tax implications of creating a new block. This proposed treatment is also consistent with other federal tax treatment on created property, such as: 1. Farming: produce, livestock, etc. is not taxed on creation, but instead on sale. 2. Mining of raw materials or minerals, such as gold, is taxed on sale. 3. Self-created intellectual property, such as software, is taxed on sale.
