We normally have our good friend Vinny to help us put up 2 tents on Saturday (15th) for the Classic. However he’s out of town this year. Does anyone know how to... put up two large tents at Lagrange Middle School at about 3pm this Saturday? Could be later than 3, but need them up before Sunday’s Classic! See more

Final week to Pre-Register for Dutchess County Classic!

Dutchess County Classic 24.03.2020

Challenge for the week for Dutchess County Classic...we still need traffic control people to stand at an intersection with a safety vest and flag and direct the... runners where to go. We need at least 10 more people. I already got one person after making the challenge. Go to www.dcclassic.com and enter the person you get to do it. I will randomly pick 5 people who are running in the Classic who get one of the 10 volunteers and provide one new person in the next 3 days to sign up and show up for this volunteer role. The 5 I randomly pick can run the Classic for free this year. Your chosen volunteer has to sign up on the volunteer page at www.dcclassic.com and pick traffic control. They should mention your name. Starts today, Monday, September 5th and ends Wednesday night September 9th at 9pm. Winners will be announced this Thursday! The traffic control task can be anywhere from 45 minutes to about 2 hours in total on Sunday, September 18th on race day. Free food, dry wick t-shirt and running gloves to the volunteers! Volunteers will be contacted by Larry Knapp. Thanks! See more

Now that you've had a great experience running the Walkway Marathon, or maybe you wanted to run, but couldn't get it because it was sold out, The Dutchess County Classic is only weeks away on Sunday, September 20th. We are bringing back much of the older course you've come to love and the big hills are gone from last year that unfortunately had to be added because of all the construction in Lagrange! Well that's over! Registration is now open in dcclassic.com and mhrrc.org. ...The rates are great with $22 for the 5k and $35 for the half marathon and the kids 12 and under who pre-register for the one mile are FREE thanks to the sponsors like The Poughkeepsie Journal, MVP Health care, Health Quest, Orthopedic Associates, Children's Medical Group and MHRRC. Great Dry Wick T-shirts are available to the first 1,000 runners who register by September 1st. Medals and running gloves also given to the half marathon runner finishers. All races start at Arlington High school! Ads will start running in the Poughkeepsie Journal soon. We are looking for a few new corporate and business sponsors at $1,000, $2,500 and $5,000. Sponsors $5,000 and up be included on all our race bibs throughout the year for all our races. Contact Keith Axelrod at 914-456-0708 I look forward to hearing from you to keep the great running events happening. Whether you are looking to run your next 5k or want do a half marathon that is Certified as a Boston Qualifier, come out for a nice cool, 5k, half marathon or free kids face, just sign up on dcclassic.com or go to MHRRC.org and register in the shopping cart. Dutchess County Classic 22.03.2019

Dutchess County Classic 2015 Route about to be announced!

Dutchess County Classic 19.03.2019

It's not exact, but I think it might work for the Classic this year. We start at the high school and end at Lagrange Middle School. We can have a shuttle bus bring everyone back from the Middle School to the High School. It's only a little more than a mile away. We do the old Classic route in reverse so we wind up on Noxon road very early in the race instead of later on when the traffic gets heavier. This way it's less of an issue with cars. We basically get our old route back but in reverse. It would have to be certified and fine tuned, but who likes the idea? Keith.....

Dutchess County Classic 15.03.2019

Happy New Year to all Dutchss County Claasic and MHRRC Runners! I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support of the DC Classic. As we enter the new year, I must begin planning for this year's Classic. I know last year's half was tough and runners were not happy with the change of course. We lost over 300 runners from the previous year. To save the Classic and make it better than ever, I would like your input on the half marathon. The 5k cours...e was good and so was the kids mike. What suggestions do you have to bring back a less challenging half marathon course? Please either post here or in box me wth your ideas. I'm ready to seriously consider alternate routes. I do have my own ideas, but I want to hear from you. Remember, if we continue using Arlington High School, we can cross over 55 at the beginning of the race, but crossing back over 55 to get back to Arlington is a problem. We would have to end somwhere else and possibly bus runners back to the high school. Other thoughts involve starting in Poughkeepsire and winding up on the rail trail. We would have to use the Civic Cener and or the Grand View to have registration and the food and awards. Just a few thoughts. Marc Molinaro is supportive and is willing to help make the Classic a success. We just need to get our plans in place to expand our race and have a great turniout. Please submit your ideas during January. Your input is critical to the future of the Classic. I built it up to 1400 runners after starting with 700. Last year we dropped back to just over 1,000. It's time for a new change. In June we have the Walkway Marathon, so I though we could follow with a great fall Classic as a warm up the the NYC Marathon. I need your help. This is my 10th year as Director of the Claasic. It is your race as much as mine. By February I need to announce new plans. Let's make this happen! I look forward to your input ASAP! The future of the Classic is important as we enter into our 37th year! Keith Axelrod, Race Director and Presdent of The Mid Hudson Road Runners Club.

Dutchess County Classic 04.03.2019

Great Coverage of The Classic!

Dutchess County Classic 16.02.2019

Strong finish to Pre-registration this week. Final 3 days registered 170 runners online. We are approaching 900 pre-registered runners for the Classic. Race day is supposed to be nice again this year, so we will be well over 1,000 runners this year. Spread the word. Let's get people to the race this Sunday. Arrive early! 6:30 am is a good time if you are already registered. 6:00 am is better if you are registering Race Day! I heard they are not letting people make certain turns off 55, so you may need more time to get into Arlington High School! See you Sunday!
