The presence of the fuels’ front endsusually Isopentane and butanecreate the RVP of the fuel. To make maximum HP, fresh high RVP fuel appears to need leaner A/F and more retarded timing compared to stale low RVP fuel which needs richer A/F ratio and more advanced timing for max HP. If you tune an engine on fresh high RVP fuel then you must run exactly the same RVP fuel or power will be lost. Always keep nitrogen pressure on your drummed fuel to prevent the loss of Isopentane or butane that in the absence of head pressure, evaporate constantly at room temperature.

Use dry nitrogen to preserve and dispense drummed liquids. The DrumPreserve system includes a custom billet machined bung assembly with stainless steel locking dispensing valve that fits standard VG2 drum openings. Included is a specially manufactured low output pressure nitrogen regulator for precise control at low pressure. The system also has a 10psi safety relief valve that has much higher flow rate than the nitrogen inlet valve--this failsafe feature prevents overpressur...izion of the drum due to operator error. As little as 3 to 5 psi of nitrogen pressure can eliminate the evaporation of volatile liquids such as the butane and isopentane in race fuel. Those front end components continually and gradually evaporate from race fuel in sealed but unpressurized drums when headspace is present. As the front end components are gradually lost from the fuel, RVP is reduced and A/F ratio and ignition timing required for maximum HP changes dramatically. See more
