The Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) has been updated. What are some of the basic changes? You have 24 weeks - instead of 8 - to use the loan You can spend 60% on payroll - instead of 75% - and still be eligible for forgiveness You have until 12/31/2020 to rehire workers, instead of 6/30... You have more flexibility in rehiring (see the SBA details) You have 5 years to repay - instead of 2 - if the loan is not "forgiven" More information will be forthcoming regarding the Forgiveness Guidelines for the PPP. Stay tuned!

What qualifies as payroll costs for the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP)? Here's the summary from the SBA - a link to the full document follows this. (Note: If you are a sole proprietor, go to the end of this quote.) What qualifies as ‘‘payroll costs?’’... Payroll costs consist of compensation to employees (whose principal place of residence is the United States) in the form of salary, wages, commissions, or similar compensation; cash tips or the equivalent (based on employer records of past tips or, in the absence of such records, a reasonable, good-faith employer estimate of such tips); payment for vacation, parental, family, medical, or sick leave; allowance for separation or dismissal; payment for the provision of employee benefits consisting of group health care coverage, including insurance premiums, and retirement; payment of state and local taxes assessed on compensation of employees; and for an independent contractor or sole proprietor, wages, commissions, income, or net earnings from self-employment, or similar compensation." https://www.govinfo.gov///FR-2020-04-15/pdf/2020-07672.pdf
