Did you know that dead batteries in smoke detectors is 25% of the reason they fail to work properly when they are needed in an emergency? To help eliminate that potential change the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors tonight when you turn your clock ahead 1 hour. This is an excellent habit to start if you haven’t been doing it. It may just save your life or one of your family member’s lives.

A local member of our community needs your help. Don Philhower is a 29 year old Corrections Officer and resident of our neighboring community of Hubbardsville. Don is an avid bowler and frequent patron of Hi-Skor Lanes. Don spends much of his time in Earlville and has many ties and close friends within our community. Recently, Don underwent the first of potentially many surgeries to remove tumors from his brain. The Philhower family are expecting a long and difficult road of ...treatment and recovery. Don will also run out of leave from his job soon and will have no income. Friends have set up a GoFundMe page and the family is selling raffle tickets to help with expenses. The main prize for the raffle is a Samsung 7 series 65 inch tv. Please private message us for details and we will be sure to get you in touch with a representative from the family. We thank you for your graciousness of spirit in this difficult time.

Today our thoughts and prayers are with the members of the New Berlin Fire Department as they cope with the passing of past Chief Larry Lloyd. Chief Lloyd embodied the family aspect of the fire service and his children and grand children continue to live by his example. Good luck and God speed to his family and community!
