East Avon Fire Department

At 2:33 pm today the East Avon Fire Dartment with mutual aid from Lima and Honeoye Falls for the FAST responded to a hot water heater on fire on Gaywood Drive in the Town of Avon. The fire was not severe but the home needed to have smoke cleared from the residence. Engine 274, Quad 276 and Quint 278 responded from East Avon.

On Wednesday evening at 8:27pm, East Avon, Lima and Caledonia firefighters were dispatched to a reported basement fire with a subject trapped on Lake Rd. in the Town of Avon. Deputy Chief Nelson arrived first, reporting heavy smoke showing and coordinated the rescue effort. Engine 274 from Station 1 and Pumper 275 from Station 2 arrived together, and stretched multiple attack lines into the home as well as performed a rescue. Quint 278 and Quad 276 also added additional s...upport as well as crews from the Livonia and Avon Fire Departments. While at the fire, at 10:17pm the East Avon FD was alerted for a stove fire on Five Points Rd. in Rush. The resident called back and stated the house was now on fire. Scottsville Tanker 4617, who was filling in at our Station 1 while we were at the Lake Rd. fire, responded and arrived first due reporting fire showing from the home. They stretched an attack line and extinguished the fire. Because our fill-in from Scottsville was out in Rush, Caledonia Quint 118 was released from the Lake Rd. fire to fill-in at our Station 1. At 11:07pm they were dispatched covering for EAFD, along with Lima's fill-in West Bloomfield Fire Department, to a reported motor vehicle rollover on 390 at North Avon Rd. It was a busy night for our volunteers. 22 East Avon firefighters responded to the call for help by our neighbors in need. East Avon firefighters were requested to a residence on McGovern Rd. in Caledonia last night for a reported chimney fire with the house filling with smoke. EAFD responded with Chief 27 and Quad 276 as the Firefighter Assist and Search Team (FAST). Our firefighters set up as 3 separate FASTeam's in various locations around the home. EAFD firefighters worked in conjunction with Caledonia, Mumford, Scottsville, and York firefighters to ensure the home was saved. A very nice stop was made by Caledonia Quint 118 crew, after they reported a working fire. In part, the home was saved due to the homeowner calling 911 so quickly when they noticed something wrong. We encourage all residents to do the same, should a potential fire hazard be present.

East Avon is out with Avon for an MVC On East Main Street

Late Monday afternoon the East Avon Fire Department with mutual aid from Avon and Lima responded to a two car MVC on Rte 15 at Exit 9 of Route 390. Engine 274, Pumper 275 and Squad 271 responded. Their were no serious injuries.
