Today May 8, at 1219 hours East Syracuse Fire Dept was dispatched to 304 1/2 Washburn Dr in the Town of DeWitt Franklin Park Area. Car 1 (Chief Cramer) responde...d immediately and arrived to a ranch house with heavy smoke from all 4 sides. Car 2 (Chief DiBello) and Car 4 (Chief Parker) arrived shortly after. First due Truck 2 (Lt Browne) stretched a handline to the front door as the attached garage flashed consuming the A/D portions of the house. Second due Engine 2 (Lt Messina) arrived with 1 minute of the truck and stretched a line to the garage. The fire was controlled in less then 10 minutes with extensive overhaul. Fayetteville FD responded as RIT and DeWitt FD for manpower. ESFD Rescue 1, Rescue 2, Engine 3 and Squad 1 all operated on scene. Mattydale and North Syracuse FDs covered move ups to each station. EAVES Ambulance provided rehab and DeWitt police secured the area. The house took extensive fire damage and no injuries were reported to civilians or responders. 1 family dog was rescued and later put down humanly. See more
