We‘re BACK! As of August, the park is OPEN to the public. To keep everyone safe, we ask that you: -WEAR A MASK! No mask, no entry. -STAY 6 FEET AWAY from anyone you do not live with.... -NO LARGE GROUPS. Individual groups are limited to 5 people. -COME BACK LATER if the park is full (25 people max, city law!) Community volunteers will be holding limited open hours throughout the week, as often as we can! All of our lives have changed due to Covid-19, so volunteer availability is limited at this time. The park may open & close without notice, but we hope to post a schedule soon!
To our fellow families, friends, gardeners and visitors: Due to the Coronavirus, NYRP has completely closed the garden until further notice. Because our garden holds shared recreational space that cannot be cleaned regularly (playground, basketball courts, grills, benches) the park must remain completely closed to everyone, including both gardeners and visitors. ... This is being done to protect the health of our community & those most at risk. More information can be found here: https://www.nyrp.org/covid19. As soon as it is safe to reopen, we will let you all know! Until then, please stay tuned to NYRP’s website for the latest.
NYRP has applied for funding from the DOH, and we need your vote at the East Harlem Neighborhood Health Action Center to make it happen!! If we receive the funding, we will be able to bring more programing to our gardens in East Harlem. The community voting period will take place from September 1 to September 30 at the East Harlem Neighborhood Health Action Center located at 158 East 115th Street in Manhattan. The office is open Monday to Friday from 8am 8pm and Saturday from 8am 4pm. Here is the link for more info: https://www.nyrp.org/blog/we-need-your-vote-thisseptember/
Just a heads up. There's a Health Fair sponsored by a local Church on July 13 on 103rd Street between Lexington Avenue and Park Avenue. It will likely be a busy day in the park in case there are any volunteers to help monitor.
GrowNYC is having a compost giveaway from May 24-June 5. Please see link for details. https://www.grownyc.org/blog/grownyc-compost-giveaway
