For #NationalLibraryWeek we celebrate our outstanding #EastRamapo Library Media Specialists, like Ms. Linda Common who has worked at Pomona Middle School for the past 20 years. Recently, Ms. Common has been updating the school's webpage to provide students with so many more virtual reading resources, to access free online books in multiple languages. Students interested in obtaining their Finkelstein Library Card - or even their New York Public Library card, are being direc...ted to the appropriate sites. "It's so easy, and the resources are endless!" says Ms. Common. #RockStarTeachers #readingisfundamental

On Wednesday, April 7th, 2021 Congressman Mondaire Jones visited his alma mater, Spring Valley High School, to announce the creation of a task force to help advise East Ramapo Central School District on the distribution of $162 million in American Rescue Plan funding allocated to public schools in the school district. The objective of the advisory task force is to help inform the school district’s decision making in respect to how the funding will be used, to create transpare...ncy in a community that has, at times, been skeptical of the decisions made by this school district in respect to funding, Jones announced. And to reinvigorate our community’s commitment to the future of public school students in the East Ramapo Central School District. I am honored and committed to working side by side with Congressman Jones, this advisory task force, and our community to make sure we do the right thing and honor this good work and focus on our students and our community, said Giamartino. Other community leaders included Oscar Cohen, Education Committee Co-Chair of the Spring Valley NAACP, Pastor Ed Ilarraza, ERCSD Mentorship Program Coordinator and Founder of Good News Association, and Sabrina Charles-Pierre, Vice President of the East Ramapo Central School District Board of Education. According to the Congressional Research Service, under the American Rescue Plan, the ERCSD will receive $162 million in federal funding to help safely and quickly reopen public schools. This funding can be used to purchase PPE, hire additional staff, invest in emotional and mental health supports, purchase technology, pay for after-school and summer programs to address learning loss, and more. Rep. Mondaire Jones is the Congressman from New York’s 17th District, serving Westchester and Rockland Counties. Rep. Mondaire Jones https://youtu.be/VIvl2rKsZ5U

What does "OVIPAROUS" mean? Summit Park's rockstar librarian Ms. Cynthia Norman is teaching the students about oviparous animals - ones that lay eggs, such as alligators, platypus, and penguins, all from very different climates. To drive the point home even more, Ms. Norman dressed up like an egg herself! This week, we celebrate all #EastRamapo Librarians and their valuable contributions to our schools. ... #NationalLibraryWeek #MakingLearningFun

This week, from April 5-9, we celebrate National Library Week. Mr. George Montenegro, Lime Kiln's Librarian and Tech Teacher, is showing the 5th and 6th graders how to create the Murakami Flower using an app called Tinkercad, in 3D!
