Early this morning the department was notified for a mutual aid response to the Lynbrook Fire Department for a Ladder to respond to the scene of a House Fire of Shipherd Ave. As a result of the heroic actions of Lynbrook’s Chiefs and Members operating at the scene a civilian’s life was saved from the blaze. Brian Grogan of Grogan Photography captured the moment as members pulled the man from the house.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow expected to start late tonight till Tuesday morning. Accumulations of 6 to 16 inches of snow and winds to 50 mph are possible. Members have spent today prepping firehouses and apparatus and will be at the ready to respond to any alarm during the storm. The department would like to ask all Village of East Rockaway and Bay Park residents to adopt a fire hydrant near their house to clear a 3 foot wid...e perimeter after the storm. By clearing a path, you could save our crews valuable time establishing a water source during an emergency! See more

During the Nassau County Junior Firefighters Association annual installation meeting, which was held virtually, ERFD Juniors Captain Dominic Orlando was sworn in as President of the association by his father, Vigilant Engine Company’s Captain Dominic Orlando. This is the second time in the past four years that one of the ERFD Juniors has served as President of the Nassau Juniors. Firefighter Bryan Scheer served as President in 2017 and currently is an active member in Engin...e 404 and the Rescue Squad. The ERFD Juniors is an important arm of the department as many members move into the ranks of the department as they turn 18 years of age. We look forward to watching Captain Orlando serve in this position.
