On Tuesday, April 6th an 8 alarm fire ripped through a residential building in Queens, displacing nearly 200 residents. Although the origin of this fire is still undetermined, fire investigators have determined two key issues; 1)The door from the Fire apartment was left OPEN, and 2) A call to 911 was DELAYED by nearly 10 minutes. On March 23rd 2021 Spring Valley Firefighter Jared Lloyd made the ultimate sacrifice while operating at a devastating nursing home fire. Firefighter Lloyd rescued multiple residents at the fire. He was a 15 year member of the Columbian Engine Company, and dedicated his life to the community and his family. As well as being a dedicated firefighter, Jared was a dedicated father to his two sons. All funds raised will go directly to his family and will be used for his sons future. This is the only officially sanctioned Columbian Engine Company fundraiser for the family.

Our department sends its deepest sympathy and condolences to the Men and Women of the Columbian Fire Engine Co. No. 1., and to the family of Firefighter Jared Lloyd . FF. Lloyd tragically lost his life while battling a fire at an assisted living facility in Spring Valley, N.Y. Tuesday Morning.

Due to COVID-19 we do not want to put any families or members in harms way. We will stop by the houses throughout the park. You are welcome to come outside & take a family photo with Santa. We are pleased to announce Edgewater Park Christmas traditions will continue this year!! Because of the combined efforts from the members of the Edgewater Fire Department, Ladies Auxularry, Athletics Association, and Cooperative we are able to continue this fine tradition. Both events will be held Sunday, December 13th. ... Firehouse from 12noon to 1pm, Children's gift giveaway, and contactless photos with Santa. 6pm start at the bust stop. With the assistance of the Edgewater Cooperative, we are able to close the parking lot at the Bus Stop to accommodate social distance requirements. The parking spots at the bus stop along the sidewalk will be a no-parking zone from 5pm to 7pm, signs will be posted as we approach the event. Unfortunately, there will be NO wreath lighting ceremony at the firehouse. We will announce our wreath dedication at the bus stop. Please remember to wear a facemask and social distancing is required at both events! Happy Holidays!!
