Meet one of our new trail stewards Tom Vitti. He volunteered to take care of the hiking trail at Edgewood Preserve. First project is to refresh the trail markers so it will be easier to follow. If you want a really warm hat for hiking check out @vinylknits on Etsy, they are homemade/hand knitted in the shadows of the Rocky Mountains by his niece.

Something new!!! When we got permission to add more trails at Edgewood a few years ago we meant to eventually add a few parallel sections along the main trail utilizing the moguls off the sides in the woods. So we created 7A, which crosses the walking trail three times and is about 1/4 mile long. It’s a long line of moguls!! To get to it , you take 7 and look for a left turn that says 7A. The exit of 7A puts you right back into 7. Happy Holidays!!!!

The main loop is in good shape. The first half is mix use, so it’s a little choppy from footprints and icy, but once u pass the entrance to trail 8 no more foot prints fresh snow. Just watch out for the hanging pine trees. We got snow off of them so they will stand up again.

They say there is no such thing as cold weather - it’s just inappropriate clothing making you cold.

To avoid that muddy section after trail 5 you can easily avoid it by following these avoid - mud detour signs we just installed. Located at trail 2 so check it out. Thanks.
