Also as a reminder, and as of yesterday, the annual DEC Burn Ban is in effect! This means all open burning is prohibited during the burn ban. Abiding by this burn ban will help keep our community safer by preventing the spread of wild fires. Thank you!

While we normally love to visit The Shamrock House, unfortunately tonight was all business as a vehicle drove into the bar. Thank you to all the responding agencies: Durham Ambulance, Greene County Paramedics, Cairo Ambulance, Durham Police, NYS Troopers and LifeNet. The scene went about as smoothly as a scene can run. After putting the trucks and gear away, many members went right back to work to help board up the building. (Also shout out Porcupine Soup a new local news source. Consider giving them a follow for a truly local news online.)

Congrats to our sister company Oak Hill-Durham Volunteer Fire Co. on the new 21-3! We look forward to seeing what it can do!

Due to COVID 19 and the restrictions brought forth by the state we have been cancelling almost all of our fundraisers in 2020 (breakfast before covid and election dinner are the 2 exceptions). Unfortunately this continues with the cancellation of our Sunday Breakfasts for 2021. We look forward to these every year to see people we don't get to see every day and eat some of the best breakfast around. We would also like to thank the people who have sent donations to us even though it's cancelled. So THANK YOU for the continued support and we hope to be able to see you at our next fundraiser! First day of the year and we handled two calls, a Fire Alarm which happened to be the first fire call in Greene County for 2021, and a Chimney Fire. The fire alarm was thankfully a false alarm set off due to cooking. The Chimney fire was mostly put out by the homeowner, with hot spots hit by the Water Can. During overhaul we had ladders to the roof, and no further extension of the fire was found. We appreciate the other agencies who assisted; Oak Hill Durham Fire, Durham Ambulance, Greene EMS, Durham PD, Greene County Sheriff's Office, as well as the Greene County Dispatchers who were handling multiple other incidents at the same time.

This "morning" at about midnight your East Durham firemen responded to a structure fire on Route 23. First due crew were guided half a mile from the road to find a fully involved garage/vehicle fire, both were total losses. We would like to thank or mutual aid companies Oak Hill Fire, Windham Fire and Cairo Fire (which shortly after responded to a call of their own). As well as Greene County Paramedics, Durham Ambulance, GCFIT and the various law enforcement agencies that all responded. Of course we can't forget our own Ladies Auxiliary. We will see you tomorrow at the firehouse for the Election Day Ham dinner 5pm Take Out Only, free will offering!
