EFA Project Space 29.04.2021

Enter the maelstrom of the sensitive machine, viewed on our staff retreat yesterday. This work by @hybridspiritualsystems is presented as an installation in our current exhibition #movesemantics facilitated by @thetroublewithbartleby @jeffkasperstudio and on view at Project Space until May 1! Book your appointment to visit via link in our bio. Sensitive Machines Mafe Izaguirreis an artist dedicated to the exploration of hybrid spirituality. The philosophical posthumanism i...deas frame her worka movement that poses the humans as a plural, fluid, and decentered being living in multiple spaces of interaction with machines, software, other species, and hybrids systems. Through her work, Izaguirre is documenting her journey while she is becoming a hybrid plural being, transcending the limits of what it means to be human. Her installations are organic landscapes, a forest of cybernetic sculptures, where the encounter between humans and machines creates a symphony of color bursts. The poetic dialogue we establish with these machines materializes our presence, inquiring the space of interaction as a body. These artifacts make visiblewhat vivifies the soul, the matter it uses, what gives breath to the faculty of feeling. They are made from the same material as the voice vibration. The Sensitive Machines are a sculptural electronic system that operates with microcontrollers, Neopixels, custom software, and metals. @dgoats @judykunst @alexandersi #abbyzhang #movesemantics @efa_nyc

[Move Semantics]: Rules of Unfolding troubles the speculative potentialities of organisms and intelligences across systemsseeking out and proposing strategic futures while reflexively considering the formation of the site of this inquiry itself. The exhibition reimagines EFA Project Space as a laboratory, troubling these conceptual possibilities as a shared frame for translating and forecasting the intersecting roles of biome, body, built environment, media, and machine. These themes extend into the gallery experience as well as into virtual events taking place online assembled as the Move Semantics Lab.
