Bacterial vaginosis (BV) is a treatable infection in the vagina that often causes a foul (or fishy) smelling discharge. The discharge is often thin, milky, and can cause irritation or slight itching. It is caused by a bacterial imbalance in the vagina that can be caused by many common practices (sex, douching, fragrant soaps, frequent panty liner use). Basically, the good bacteria that keep the vagina healthy are overrun by the bad bacteria that lead to this infection. Want to learn more about our BV study?
