Elmont Post 1033

With deep sadness I would like to report that Mike Vanderkirk has passed away today. He was in his 90s. The information is as follows: Viewing will be on Sunday December 6 from 4-7pm, at Massapequa Funeral Home, located at 4980 Merrick Road in Massapequa. Mass will be on Monday December 7 at St. Rose of Lima in Massapequa, then his final resting place is Calverton.

With deep sadness I would like to say that Paul Sapienza of Sapienza Bakery has passed away. Paul was a very big supporter of the Veterans at Post 1033 and the Community of Elmont. His funeral arrangements are as follows: Place: Elmont Funeral Home on Hempstead Tpke. Times: Wednesday and Thursday 2-5pm & 7-9pm December 2 & 3. Mass will be Friday December 4, at St. Boniface @ 9:30am. We the members of Post 1033 will report on Thursday 7:15pm. We will not be marching in. W...e will go in two at a time to be able to maintain social distancing and leave immediately. All you need is your hats. Paul will sadly be missed by us all. Our condolences to his family. Tree Lighting at Veterans Square: Date: Wednesday December 2 @ 5:30. Again to maintain social distancing this will not usual lighting, so anyone who shows up, the tree will be lit and that's it. No performances etc. REMEMBER TO MAINTAIN 6FT DISTANCE. NO CONGREGATING.

Due to COVID-19, we will no longer be having a 2nd meeting until further notice. The next meeting will be December 7 @ 8:00pm, and the Executive meeting will be the same night at 7:30pm. Hope everyone continue to be safe. Please have a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving.
