The Empire Staff attended a coaches workshop today @tcr1886. Steve Pekich from Syracuse led a clinic on singles tactics. Coach Jason led a doubles clinic with strategies and games that can be used for players at the high school level as well as adults just starting out or at the league level. Lastly, Jason Joseph from Buffalo closed out the day with a U8 presentation. We believe that taking time to improve our skills on court and off allows us to continuously improve the quality of our programs and services for ALL our clients! @ Tennis Club of Rochester

We'd like to take a moment to introduce the newest member of the Empire Tennis Family - Juan Segundo Rodriguez from Concordia, Argentina! Just 20 years old and coming off his Sophomore year at Alabama State University, he will be joining us on court for the summer. Juan is a Finance Major and is hoping to one day work on Wall Street. He is a member of the ASU Men's Tennis Team and a part of their starting lineup, competing at #1 doubles and in the 2-4 spots for singles. The y...oungest of 3 siblings, Juan started playing when he was 5 years old with his older brother and fell in love with the sport right away. As a junior player in Argentina, he achieved his highest National Ranking at #20 in the U18. As a coach, Juan has experience training National level juniors back home in Argentina and also spent last summer teaching at Seven Oaks Tennis Academy in Atlanta, Georgia. He is now available for Hittings ($35/hr) and Private Lessons ($50/hr). You'll also see him on court with the juniors once we restart our group lessons. Along with his playing accolades, Juan just as importantly brings enthusiasm to working with kids and has a passion for improving as a coach and learning more about the tennis teaching industry. We are so excited to have him on our team! If you see him around be sure to say hello and welcome him. Here are some fun facts we learned about Juan as we got to know him better: Favorite Shot: Backhand 100%. If my game breaks down, it's usually my forehand. Favorite Tennis Player: Andy Murray. He's intelligent and does everything can open the court and with his backhand can do whatever he wants. Favorite Grand Slam: Wimbledon because everything is so formal and elegant. Favorite Food: Steak - because it reminds me of home. What's a dream of yours: Have a family and enjoy life and be happy.

Empire Tennis Reopening Outdoors May 15th!!! We are happy to hear Governor Cuomo has stated outdoor tennis is a low-risk recreational activity, and a low-risk business, and we will be able to resume operations starting May 15th. As we prepare to re-open, there is much excitement, hesitation, and concern as to how we will reopen safely. As you can imagine my team, and the tennis industry as a whole, has been working tirelessly to ensure that when we return to tennis we follow ...Continue reading

We can't wait to see you again soon! Folks, we are hopeful that we will be able to reopen our doors next Saturday, May 16th pending approval from the county. In consideration of maintaining your safety and health, we will be taking all necessary precautions to make sure you feel comfortable upon returning. Our primary goal is to keep you safe while providing a great experience once we get back on the courts together. We plan to take the following measures in limiting cross co...ntamination: Bringing your own water bottle We have Empire water bottles to hand out upon reopening No loaner racquets for 10 & under children As well as the following Having sanitizer available for use before and after lessons All the balls will be picked up by the staff Smaller ratio sizes for U8 groups; 4:1 Adjusting course curriculum for all groups Taking 11+ groups outdoors as weather permits Keeping locker rooms closed and using only unisex bathroom at field-house entrance Spraying the balls and carts with disinfectant spray at the end of each day Reserving the right to send anybody home who is sick - if you or your child do not feel well, we can always find a makeup time! We want you to see your home court!! Hi everyone, we hope you are all staying healthy and safe! We miss you all! We cannot wait to get back on court with all of you! With the shutdown extended until May 15th, we are keeping a close track of all the classes missed. For all group lessons missed, we intend to make-up all the group lesson time with Private lesson time. For every Two missed group lessons, we’ll count it towards one private lesson which will be scheduled at your co...nvenience. If only one class remains, that can be used for a group lesson when we resume regular programming. No value will be lost! As we continue to look ahead, we are excited for the news of the upcoming reopening phases, of which gyms and presumably tennis programs, are included in Phase 1. In accordance with our government officials, and their guidelines, we look forward to an opening date in the upcoming weeks and we will be taking any and all necessary precautions to enjoy our sport. Our primary goal is to make you feel COMFORTABLE upon returning. IMG 1607 A hammock and chairs for the posts are a great option for a makeshift patio tennis court! What can you come up with? However, until then, Coach Diana has missed tennis so much it has gotten to the point where she has even built her own net in the backyard! What are you and your kids doing at home to stay active and play tennis? We sent out a list of videos for everyone to try at home and hopefully you've been able to give them a shot! Send us a video! If that is still not enough, maybe you can build a net as well! Get creative and use whatever you can find - chairs, shower curtains, desks, tablesyounger siblings!? Snap a pic of your home court and share it on our Facebook post! You will be entered in our contest with an opportunity to win a gift card. We are excited to see what you come up with! Last, but not least, THANK YOU for all your warm emails, patience, and understanding. Your support is greatly appreciated and we hope you continue to stay in touch, whether through email or social media! Stay positive and we will be on the courts soon!
