It's hard to walk away from a situation where someone won't forgive us - but it's possible. 1. Be mindful of the other persons thoughts and emotions as well as your own. Use Mindfulness to observe and describe the facts of the situation. Ride the wave of your emotions. This will help you to see the situation from a different perspective. Instead of becoming resentful, mindfulness helps us to grow, improve and better ourselves from difficult situations. Remember to be nonjudg...mental towards yourself and them (practicing loving kindness can go a long way here!) 2. Balance self-respect with validation for the other person. Don't sacrifice truth or self-respect for forgiveness. While it's important to validate others and the want and need for forgiveness is very strong sometimes - make sure you aren't chipping away at your own self-respect to do so. It's important that when a person forgives you - if they do - it's because you are sincerely sorry, not because we make false promises. 3. Radical Acceptance is key. Reminder yourself that you can't control others or their actions. People don't have to forgive us, no matter how sincere we are or how much we think they should. Turning your mind towards acceptance will help you practice letting the situation go. Remember: When interpersonal difficulties arise it's important to remain nonjudgmental of yourself and others. Being judgmental will only increase feelings of resentment, make acceptance more difficult, and will hinder your growth. #mentalhealthawarenessweek #mentalhealthblogger #mentalhealthmatters #mentalhealthquotes #mentalhealthrecovery #mentalhealthstigma #mentalhealthsupport #mentalhealthwarrior #mentalillness #mentalwellbeing #mentalillnessawareness #mentalillnessrecovery #mentalstrength #mentalwellness #anxiety #anxietyattack #anxietyawareness #anxietydisorder #anxietyfree #anxietyhelp #anxietyproblems #anxietyquotes #anxietyrecovery #anxietyrelief #adhd #socialanxiety #socialanxietymemes #socialanxietyproblems #ptsdawareness #ptsdrecovery

We all want to make sure we are keeping our relationships healthy. Here are 5 tips to keeping your relationship healthy! 1. Effectively Communicate ... Effective communication is the hallmark of any relationship! In order to be most effective our communication should be honest, clear and direct. Be sure to avoid giving blame and instead use "I" messages. 2. Show Respect In a healthy relationship we should give and be given respect. Whether we agree or disagree with our partner, valuing their opinions is showing respect to them. We can also show respect by: Trusting their judgement, Negotiating and Compromising, and being nonjudgmental when they make mistakes. 3. Be Curious Being curious is about showing interest in the lives of our significant other - their daily tasks, how work was, how they are feeling, their hobbies, etc. This helps keep a relationship healthy by showing our partner we value and want to know more about them! 4. Be Supportive Healthy relationships are supportive. This doesn't mean becoming your partners parent or "taking care of them." It is more about being there for emotional, mental or physical support and both leaning on each other when needed. Being supportive can look different in relationships, be sure to ask your partner how you can be supportive of them both in good and bad times. 5. Value Each others Independence A healthy relationship avoid co-dependence and instead values independence. It means that you allow your partner to be them, do their own things, and they also allow you that. If you need space or they need space, it's allowed. #mentalwellness #livecolorfully #wellnesslifestyle #holdyourmoments #documentyourdays #morningslikethese #lifestylecoach #nothingisordinary_ #lifeunscripted #reclaimthehappy #happinessproject #goals #healingquotes #healingenergy #healthymindset #healthylifestyles #hereforyou #inspirationalwords #inspirationoftheday #instagoodlife #lifestylegoals #smilefordays #tipsandtricks #growthhacking #parenting101 #parentinghacks #parentinglife #teentherapy #therapy #therapysession

The art of breathing is much like any other type of art - it takes time, practice and repetition! Breathing isn't just something we're born with - it's something we have to hone and improve! The art of breathing all starts with your stomach! ... When we breath through our stomach we are actually telling our minds that we are okay and calm. Did you know that our chest muscles and throat muscles are only supposed to be used for "emergency breathing" such as when we are hyperventilating. When we are constantly breathing through these muscles due to stress, tension or other reasons - we are actually telling our mind that we are in crisis. The first step is to tune into your body, and find a comfy spot to take a moment. Follow these few steps, practice lots and you'll have the art of breathing down in no time! #meditationpractice #meditations #mindfulnessmeditation #mindfulnesscoach #mindfulnessmatters #mindfulnessmoment #mindfulnessmonday #mindfulnesspractice #mindfulnessquotes #mindsetcoaching #wellbeingwarrior #wellnesstips #wellnesslifestyle #wellnessadvocate #wellnessblogger #wellnessday #wellnesswarrior #wellnessweekend #socialanxiety #socialanxietymemes #socialanxietyproblems #ptsdawareness #ptsdrecovery #growthhacking #selfcarefirst #selfcaredaily #selfcareeveryday #selfcareday #selfcareideas #nyctherapist

Self-Sabotage is a word that comes up a lot both in my own therapy and sessions with my clients. What is Self-Sabotage? It is when we do or think in ways that hold us back and prevent us from doing what we really want to do. Essentially, it is doing something or thinking something which undermines our own goals and values and gets in the way of our life worth living. ... Self-sabotage isn't always a conscious act, behavior or thought. Sometimes we do it without even realizing it. There also may be things in our life we don't realize are self-sabotaging. Even procrastination can be an example of self-sabotage! Comment below a self-sabotaging behavior you have! I'll go first - When I was younger I self-sabotaged myself by never doing any work. This was due to the unconscious (now conscious, thanks therapy!) belief that I wasn't good enough and therefore would fail everything I did. However, this is self-sabotage because in not doing any work, I actually caused myself to fail more! When I realized my worth and started to face my fear of failure, I was that much closer to reaching my life worth living! #meditationpractice #meditations #mindfulnessmeditation #mindfulnesscoach #mindfulnessmatters #mindfulnessmoment #mindfulnessmonday #mindfulnesspractice #mindfulnessquotes #mindsetcoaching #mentalhealthawarenessweek #mentalhealthblogger #mentalhealthmatters #mentalhealthquotes #mentalhealthrecovery #mentalhealthstigma #mentalhealthsupport #mentalhealthwarrior #mentalillness #mentalwellbeing #mentalillnessawareness #mentalillnessrecovery #mentalstrength #mentalwellness #itsokaynottobeokay #positivevibesalways #positivityquotes #positivityiskey
