Engine 5 Rochester, NY

Last night, the Holy Apostle's Church Youth Ministry Group (and a couple mascots!) visited Engine 5. They even brought dinner! We enjoyed a great evening of answering questions about what we do and how & why we do it, touring the station & apparatus, singing "Happy Birthday" to Ms Yolanda and supporting Red Nose Day in America, albeit a day late. Thank you so much for the visit!

Your Engine 5 Group 3 Firefighters helped an area Cub Scout complete his First Responder requirement last night. After enjoying a firehouse dinner, Brady learned about the EMS capabilities of the RFD, including the medications we carry (Naloxone and Albuterol), why we carry them and how we administer them. He also learned about the signs & symptoms for a heart attack and stroke (and what to do for them), recognize and treat shock, manage burns, control severe bleeding, administer rescue breathing and CPR and use an automated external defibrillator. Opal the Blind Fire Dog (the Official Fire Dog of Group 3) even paid us a visit. Thanks for coming down, Brady! Great Job! (photo credit: g. parker)
