The Valhalla Fire Department assisted the North White Plains Fire Company No. 1 today at the scene of a hazardous material incident on Hillandale Ave. A tractor... trailer carrying potassium hydroxide, which is a corrosive liquid, load shifted and punctured a hole in one of the carrying totes. Under the guidance of Westchester Count Haz-Mat team and New York State DEC, crews were able to contain the leak and stop it all together. The Valhalla Ambulance Corp was on scene to provide rehab. No injuries occurred at the scene. See more

***COVID-19 UPDATE*** With the Coronavirus crisis in full swing we would like to tell you a few of the steps that the department is taking to keep not only our ...residents safe but also our members. 1. First and foremost, as always the department is ready to answer any call 24/7. Our members have been responding to emergencies throughout the pandemic and will continue to do so. 2. If you or someone in your household has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus or have symptoms (fever, cough, difficulty breathing, etc.) please let the dispatcher know, as well as our members when they arrive on scene. This information will help us better protect our members. 3. In the event that someone is positive for the virus or showing symptoms, the department is equipped with specialized personal protective equipment (PPE) to protect our firefighters. These specialized PPE precautions will be used frequently due to the uncertainty of the virus. 4. Our members are sanitizing our equipment and apparatus after every call. You can never be too cautious in a pandemic like this. After each call our members are sanitizing all handlebars, seatbelts, drivers area, radios, tools, and any other equipment used on the last call. As you can see the department is taking steps to protect everyone during this time of need. With the number of COVID-19 cases increasing be sure to protect yourself and your family. If you are feeling any symptoms and believe you may have the virus call your medical physician. And as always only call 911 for emergencies only.

Today members of Company Number 1 along with North White Plains Fire Company No. 1 took advantage of the warm weather to train on pump operations and supplying an aerial ladder. We are dedicated to training with our neighboring departments in order to be best prepared to serve our communities.
