Suffocatingly small paradigm, lonely, competitive, violent. The world and the data show the evidence: our boys and men deserve an emotionally intelligent, nurturing upbringing and life. Re-reading @markepsteinmd . Beautiful psycho spiritual ‘memoir’ from 2003. Epstein speaks both to my foundational training as a Gestalt psychotherapist and a yogi - being and working in the Here and Now. Epstein refers to Gestalt as an ‘active meditation’ which indeed in its purest form it is. Everything we need to know shows up in the present moment. And the Gestalt therapist is trained to observe and reflect How a person maintains or avoids contact with the present moment. The therapeutic relationship is the laboratory for ‘waking up’!
