I often get asked about how to help older horses with eating especially when they have worn out or only a few teeth. One of my favorite parts of this job is going to all the different barns and seeing ideas that others have come up with. This one has stuck in my mind for those senior horses. DIY HAY CHOPPER a weed wacker with a blade head in a muck tub covered with a tarp (to keep it from flying everywhere) to chop hay. The pictures in this post use a normal weed wacking line with good results. Photo credits to Brenda Arcangeli. Feel free to share! And good luck. With all the recent shares someone suggested a leaf mulcher which could honestly probably be a better option. However if you don’t have one this will certainly do in a pinch.

Funny thing, I don’t only talk with my horse. I talk with other people’s horses too!

At this time Equine Dentistry is not considered an essential business. We will be happy to reschedule appointments for you as soon as the ban is lifted. If you should have what you consider an equine dental emergency, we would direct you to your Veterinarian for assistance. As always we are glad to help answer any questions you might have in regards to teeth and nutrition. Please let's all do our parts to stay safe and calm during this very trying time. Remember what that a difference a day can make.
