Reminder to all currently registered participants. Today (Friday, April 10th) is the last day to make your decision regarding your participation in the now virtual 2020 Erie Canal Race. Most of you have done this but there are still more than 50 runners who have not made a selection yet. Remember that if no decision is made, you will remain in the virtual event offering by default. Questions? Please refer to the previous post which lays out all of the options and how to make your selection.

ATTENTION ALL CURRENT PARTICIPANTS Please read this message carefully and in its entirety as it contains important information and actions on your part will be required. I am sure that each of you are aware of the ongoing health crisis and its impact on events across the globe. Despite my optimistic hopes over the past few weeks, I have determined that the only prudent course of action is to cancel the 2020 Cree | Wolfspeed Erie Canal Race, in its current form, as a tradition...al, live running event. Many costs have already been incurred and, in order to salvage something from this unfortunate situation, the event will be transitioning to a virtual race. If you are not interested in the virtual race, no need to worry. We are also making the following options available to you: -DONATE REGISTRATION FEE. Events are expensive, whether they happen or not. The Boilermaker, which operates this race, is a non-profit organization which operates community outreach activities throughout the year and generates millions of dollars of economic activity for our community. -REFUND. This event has a no-refund policy; however, we understand that these are extraordinary circumstances. We will refund your registration fee minus a small ($2-$2.40) processing fee. Your refund will be processed after the selection deadline of Friday, April 10th. -ONE-TIME COMPLIMENTARY ROLLOVER TO 2021. Although this event has a no-deferral policy, we understand that these are extraordinary circumstances. You will be able to register for the 2021 race at no additional charge. You will receive instructions on how to do this prior to next year’s registration. -PARTICIPATE IN VIRTUAL RACE. Run the distance on your own terms and we will send you a finisher’s medal, your performance t-shirt and possibly an awards medal if you place in your division. If you do not choose an option by the deadline below, you will be placed into this category by default. You will receive further instructions on submitting your time after the selection period is over. Registration for the 2020 Cree | Wolfspeed Erie Canal Half, a Boilermaker Road Race event, is just over a week away! Mark your calendars for Monday, February 3rd. RACE UPDATE We've been monitoring the weather situation throughout the night. Heavy storms moved the area early this morning and the forecast now looks clear so we are temporarily lifting the time limit and proceeding as ORIGINALLY PLANNED. Please be prepared for anything and cooperate with all instructions from race officials, law enforcement and emergency personnel.

IMPORTANT RACE UPDATE Those of you who ran this race last year know that we will run RAIN OR SHINE or tomorrow! However, there is a possibility of thunderstorms in the forecast. With your safety in mind, we have decided to enforce a 2.5 HOUR TIME LIMIT for the half and relay tomorrow morning. If you are not confident you or your team can finish in LESS THAN 150 minutes we ask that you please consider running the 5K which starts 15 minutes after the half, at 8:15 on Whitesboro... Street. Our goal is to get the race is in safely and without interruption so that we can all enjoy ourselves at the post-race party! The forecast is constantly changing so we ask that you be prepared and cooperate with instructions from race officials, law enforcement and emergency personnel throughout the morning.

Unfortunately, we have made the very tough decision to cancel tomorrow morning’s Kid’s Run due to weather concerns and lack of shelter at the site. Parents of registered runners are still welcome to pick up their shirts tomorrow between 9am and 4pm at the Erie Canal Half packet pick-up inside the the Labatt Blue entrance of the Adirondack Bank Center. Trust us when we say we are just as disappointed as the little ones but we are confident this is the right decision. We hope to see you all at the Boilermaker Kid’s Run on July 7th.

Who is pumped for this weekend? Today is the FINAL day to register online. After that, you will have to register at Saturday's packet pick-up at the Adirondack Bank Center's Labatt Blue Entrance from 9am-4pm.
