Today, the Dwight D. Eisenhower Memorial opens in Washington, D.C., honoring the legacy of the World War II Supreme Allied Commander and the nation's 34th President. Why is the #StatueofLibertyMuseum important, by Olivia El-Sadr Davis: "I realize now how important it is to so many people, and how significant it has been throughout its 133 year history. The museum tells the origin story of the statue; it was originally given to the U.S. after the abolition of slavery. The museum carries the history through to how people use the statue today as a symbol of protest, for civil rights around the world.
