Dispatchers are the first people you speak to when you call 9-1-1, they are the people who paint us the best picture possible while we are responding. Sometimes... they know to make the call before we even request it. Our dispatchers at Nassau County Fire Communications (aka FireCom) are some of the best in the business. Michael Biggs James, known to most as FireCom 63 or dispatcher 19 elsewhere in the County, was one of the best of the best. A powerful voice on our frequencies. At one point or another he could be heard dispatching on about 95% of the county fire radios. Taken way too soon. RIP brother. The East Williston Fire Department on this Sunday afternoon was alerted by Nassau County Fire Communications (Fire Com) to respond with 1 engine mutual aid to the Mineola Fire Department to the scene of this working house fire on Lewis Place. Engine 814 and Chief's 8100, 8101 and 8102 responded. Also assisting the Mineola Fire Department on scene was the Williston Park Fire Department (1 engine) the Garden City Fire Department (1 ladder), the Carle Place Fire Department (1 FA...ST truck) the Mineola Volunteer Ambulance Corps, the Nassau County Fire Marshals Office and the Nassau County Police Department. Standing by in the Mineola F.D. Headquaters was the New Hyde Park Fire Department (1 engine), the Albertson Fire Company (1 engine), the Westbury Fire Department (1 ladder) and the Garden City Park Fire Department (1 heavy rescue). All units operated under the command of Chief of Department Robert Connolly of the Mineola Fire Department. See more

Wolf Dens 1& 2 from Cub Scout Pack 305 stopped by the firehouse today to learn requirements for their Wolf Adventure: Council Fire (Duty to Country).
