Excelsior Fire Engine Company No. 1 28.04.2021

The officers and members of the Columbian Engine Company No. 1, of the Spring Valley Fire Department, sadly announce the line of duty death of Firefighter Jared... Calvin Lloyd. Firefighter Lloyd was one the first to arrive on the scene of a structure fire at the Evergreen Court Home for Adults; an effort that would eventually involve over 150 firefighters from 4 counties. Firefighter Lloyd was in the process of searching for and rescuing trapped residents and is credited with saving multiple victims . At a certain point, Jared became trapped himself. Firefighter Lloyd radioed in a mayday call and his brother firefighters immediately attempted to locate and extricate him but were unsuccessful before the building suffered a catastrophic collapse. After searching for over 18 hours straight, state and local emergency service personnel located Firefighter Lloyd’s body at 2350 hours on March 23rd. Jared Lloyd gave his life in service to others, but more importantly, he lived his life in service to others. He was a member of the company for 16 years. He served as an engineer, as a second lieutenant and first lieutenant among many leadership positions in the company. He attended Spring Valley High School and played as a linebacker on the varsity football team. He was a loving father to his two sons, an avid golfer and bowler and a die hard Mets fan; never losing the faith. He was a friend, a leader, a brother, a Columbian. Rest easy bub, we got it from here. Donations to the Lloyd family can be submitted here ( https://gofund.me/19e3c82a ),100% of the proceeds are going to Jared's sons.

Mixed emotions today - as we renovate an existing training building- the Andrew Fredericks Fire Safety Building - today began the demolition of the Fire Trainin...g Centers workhorse - affectionately know as the burn building. For almost fifty years this building trained the volunteer firefighters in Rockland County and beyond. Opening in September 1973 thousands of firefighters have used this building. I will miss this building very much but I am also hopeful that the county will replace this much needed training prop ASAP for the volunteers that continue to serve Rockland County today. On Sunday, February 21 at 1328 hrs the Belmar Fire Department was dispatched to 407 12th Ave for an active structure fire. Upon the arrival of Engine 3-75, ther...e was heavy smoke showing from a widow on the Bravo-side of the structure. A 1 hand-line was deployed to the Bravo-side of the structure. Firefighters quickly made entrance through the kitchen door, found the seat of the fire in the bathroom, and made a strong [and quick] knock. Additional hand lines were deployed to the Alpha and Bravo-side of the structure. Overhaul was done on the structure to make sure all the hotspots were extinguished. A big thank you to Neptune Fire Department, Belmar First Aid, and Belmar Police Department for all their help. All personnel were secured by 1500. See more

This is the craziest thing I’ve ever seen! At approximately 7:45 this evening, Engine 913 along with Chief 905 responded to a single vehicle MVA in the 14000 b...lock of Old Hammond Hwy. The crash was due to the vehicle fleeing from law enforcement. The driver was ejected from the vehicle and transported to the hospital in critical condition. Also as a result of hitting multiple trees, the motor was thrown out of the vehicle and went through the front door of a nearby apartment, striking a resident inside. The resident was also transported with non lifethreatining injuries. East Side Fire Department
