1 Minute and 15 Seconds. We want to share with you this video from August of 2020 out in Colorado. According to the news reports, 20 people were at this home when the fire started celebrating the 88th birthday of the gentlemen seated in the chair. The cause was a candle left by an open window, when the wind blew in it put the curtain over top of the candle. The 88 year old male who had dementia sat in his chair while the room literally started to burn. Thankfully a family m...ember left her purse in the room and noticed the fire. The occupants of the home attempted to extinguish the fire with a box store fire extinguisher that didn't function when it needed to. The smoke alarm didn't activate because it was unplugged next to where the fire originated. The Fairview Fire District along with the Union actively assist in replacing and installing smoke alarms in homes. This fire happened in the day time when, at a birthday party, with people enjoying themselves in the other room. 1 minute and 15 seconds before someone noticed the fire. Within 2 minutes the room is involved. It happens that quickly. All occupants of the home thankfully escaped the fire. Do not ever hesitate to call us to your home in the Fairview Fire District.
