Happy New Year Everyone! We are looking forward to a happy and healthy 2021 and this year we can celebrate the 20 year anniversary of the Family Martial Arts Studio!
The dojang is closed for the holiday break from Dec. 21st until we resume on January 4th. Let the cooking and baking and wrapping begin!
No classes today while snow clean up continues. Promotion tests will be rescheduled for Friday, white belts at 4:45pm, intermediate and advanced at 5:20.

Power is back! Thank you NYSEG!
Power is out, there will be no classes tonight.
Stay home tonight and stay dry!
Here's the proof! Even if you are not at the dojang, you can practice anytime, anywhere!
As of today, the dojang is allowed to be OPEN!
The AC is back up and running at the dojang! Now we are ready for summer!
To all of our current students, please make sure we have your email address up to date if you have not been receiving updates! A message went our today to everyone on the list. Thanks!
FRIDAY IS MAY 15TH! Current students will be getting an email today with the details.
We are required to delay our opening until May 15th. An email will be going out to all of our current students. If you have not received emails, please message me with your current email, and I will make sure you are on the list! We hope everyone is doing well, and we are so proud to hear that many of you are practicing at home. We can't wait to be back soon!
Okay guys, hopefully this is the last time I have to make a post like this! We are going to have to push back our date to open to April 29th as per the governors requirements. Please know when we do open, the dojang has been kept thoroughly clean and we will be conducting classes with common sense and caution to keep everyone healthy. We hope everyone has been practicing at home, and if you haven't, now is the time to start! It helps keep your spirits up, and it will help you feel confident coming back to class. Stay safe everyone!
For your at home poomse review! Here is a good resource if you are practicing the Taegeuk poomses.
Go Team Nisi! Making us proud! The sun is out today, it's a great day for poomse in the backyard!
Maybe DON'T try this at home!
Hello Everyone! Our patience and perseverance are certainly being tested right now as we have to push back our return date to April 15th. An email will be going out to all of our current students regarding any further details, but we hope everyone is staying safe and healthy during this time. Stay strong and keep looking forward to how awesome it will be when we can all get together again!
What to you think Black Belts? Pretty cool applications shown for Koryo. These are more than just movements, we move with a purpose when we do poomse.
Hello everyone! We may not be seeing you for class right now, but we will try to keep you motivated and training long distance! Take some time each day to stretch, do a few sets of jumping jack push up drills, crunches, and maybe even a 1 minute plank. Pick a poomse and do it at least 3 times! Hapkido students, if you have a family member to attack you, GO SLOW, and teach them to tap! Teaching a technique to a family member is a great way to help you understand techniques better. Check in and let us know how you're doing!
This already feels like when you close for a snow day, but then it doesn't snow. But that's the idea, being cautious to keep everyone healthy. No one we know has been affected yet and we want to keep it that way.
An email went out today to all of our current students regarding cancelling classes until April 1st. If you have not received an email please FB message me with your email address. Thanks!
Okay guys, as of today, March 20th, by the Governor's orders, we are temporarily closing the dojang due to the covid-19 outbreak. We hope that all of our students are staying safe and healthy during this time, and we can't wait until all of our lives get back to normal. An email will be going out to all of our current students with any further details. Right now, the time period is not set in stone, so we will check in for updates. I would assume at least one to two weeks. Stay healthy and keep practicing everyone!
Stuck at home and need some motivation to practice? Here's a pretty accurate reference for the Tae Geuk Poomses. And if you can come back to class making that sonic boom technique, that'd be awesome! As of today, tonight's classes will be ON SCHEDULE, but we are still monitoring the news day by day to ensure we can safely continue to teach. Check back for status updates! Stay healthy everyone!
Yes, we are open today! In the hopes of maintaining a sense of normal routine in this time, we will continue to hold classes with extreme caution. We are, as always, keeping our dojang clean, and making some changes to our interaction in class (no handshakes, high fives, or passing hand held targets). What a great time to work on lots and lots of poomse! We want to keep everyone healthy, so if you have any concerns of being exposed to COVID19 or are not feeling well, as a...lways, please stay home. If anyone does not feel comfortable attending class right now, we understand completely, we will work out make up time, or other options. This status may change, we are closely monitoring the news around us, but we have seen the stress relief that coming to class has provided for some of our students, and at the moment, it still makes sense. Be aware, be prepared, and be calm. Words we state on a daily basis in regards to self defense seem to apply more than ever these days in light of the COVID-19 concerns. At this time, we are continuing with our normally scheduled classes. We are keeping a close eye on the news around us, and giving lots of extra TLC when it comes to keeping our dojang and equipment clean as a precaution. We have had no concern for any illnesses in our circle of contacts, and we ask that a...ny students or family members that are concerned, please let us know. If any of our students and parents decide to stay home and not attend classes, we understand completely. If the situation continues, or if it makes sense for us to cancel classes at any time, we will work out the details to make up the training time for our students. Keep in touch, keep a positive outlook, and keep healthy! See more

Okay everyone, here's a bit of dojang history and a HUGE request from us: Way back when we opened the dojang in 2001, we were presented with a choice, remain a part of a school that was merging into a business franchise, or maintain our independence. Obviously, we chose our independence. We chose to create a dojang that felt like family (hence the name), and to run that dojang with integrity. We chose to keep business practices that are honest and transparent, and we chose... to keep teaching from our hearts. And we have never looked back! We have trained with amazing martial artists that have become our mentors and greatest supporters. We strive to give our students the same experience that we have benefited from. Therefore, our students (past and present) are our best representatives. With martial art businesses popping up left and right, our best advertisement has always been the referral from one of our own students. We would greatly appreciate your help in spreading some love for your dojang. If you could give us a facebook review or share our website, every little bit helps! We will be planning some events for the fall for friends to join in on classes, until then, grab some of our business cards or flyers and pass them out freely! We are happy to volunteer our time to any of the local schools to come in for a demonstration or welcome a group to our school for a self defense seminar. We appreciate your help to keep the dojang growing! See more
