Festivals Fredonia 18.01.2021

The Harvest Moon Cemetery Tour Planning Committee is pleased to bring you something new for 2020: The Harvest Moon Virtual Cemetery Tour! Due to the ongoing pandemic, we are unable to offer our traditional horse-and-trolley tours this fall, but we wanted to make sure that there was still a way for our loyal supporters to experience the haunted history of Fredonia. In collaboration with the Special Collections & Archives Division of Daniel A. Reed Library at SUNY Fredonia, ...we have put together a virtual walking tour that can be found on the recently-updated Festivals Fredonia website (www.festivalsfredoniany.org). The virtual tour uses web-based map software, combined with photographs, videos, and narrative text, to provide a unique version of our usual in-person tour that can be experienced safely in your own home through your favorite browser or even on a socially-distanced walk with your household through historic Fredonia in the autumn. Unlike the in-person event, this virtual event will be available through the fall season for you to experience at your own pace, and best of all, there is no cost to access the virtual tour. The link will be live on Friday, October 16, when the in-person event would have taken place -- so be sure to check the Festivals Fredonia website this weekend! We encourage you to support Festivals Fredonia directly through shopping in our web store for Festivals Fredonia merchandise and 50/50 raffle tickets, and you can also make donations and purchase festival sponsorships in the store as well. These events, even the virtual ones, cannot happen without your support, your continued interest, and the passion for the community that Fredonia is known for. We couldn't do it without you! Although the events of 2020 left us without the opportunity to bring so many new things to the in-person event as we had originally planned, we remain hopeful that 2021 will allow us to bring some Halloween fun to downtown Fredonia. Thank you for your continued support of the Harvest Moon Cemetery Tours and Festivals Fredonia, and we hope to see you next year. Happy Halloween!

The Opera House today launched the second round of films that can be streamed in the Opera House Screening Room. Every two weeks, a new batch of films is offe...red; each batch is launched on Friday. The current round of films includes two holdovers from the first round: Herb Alpert Is... and Frida Kahlo. In addition, four new films are included: Museum Town, Rock Camp, the reason i jump and Free Time. The Opera House Screening Room provides movies and other digital programming to its patrons in the wake of the continued COVID restrictions which prevent the theater from opening. The cost of streaming the films ranges from $4.99 to $12 per household, depending on the film. The revenue generated is shared by the Opera House and the film studios. Since we are unable to reopen yet, this is one way of providing our patrons with access to programming, and of generating income for the Opera House to help ensure its survival, says Opera House Executive Director Rick Davis.

Well, you know...all good things must come to an end. Freddy has to make his way back to the North Pole to report his fun visit of Fredonia to Santa. But before he leaves, he wanted to visit one more house in the village. His visit brings him to a street that's not necessarily in the MIDDLE of the village but very similar to that word; not on the left nor the right. You'll find him there this Christmas Eve! #freddyfestivalsfredoniaelf It's in the event as well...
