It was a spectacular day at the Montezuma Wetlands Complex! Join the Montezuma Audubon Center for birding tours, lectures, bird banding demonstrations, and a bird of prey presentation during the Finger Lakes Birding Festival March 26-29. Don't forget to experience the great activities going on at Braddock Bay Raptor Research, Sterling Nature Center, and Onondaga Audubon as well. Visit http://montezuma.audubon.org for details.
Braddock Bay Raptor Research and Sterling Nature Center are great places to observe tens of thousands of Turkey Vultures, Bald Eagles, falcons, hawks and owls that migrate through the Finger Lakes Region from March through May. Guided tours will be offered during the Finger Lakes Birding Festival March 26-29 to help you experience this amazing natural phenomenon. Additional birding activities will take place at Montezuma Audubon Center and Onondaga Audubon. Visit http://montezuma.audubon.org for details.
The huge flock of Snow Geese was seen flying south over the Montezuma Wetlands Complex this morning toward Cayuga Lake. We just received word that the geese are now on the Route 31 muckland between the towns of Savannah and Montezuma. Get here this weekend if you can and stop in at the Montezuma Audubon Center for the latest information. It looks like Montezuma's waterfowl migration, with over 30 species of ducks, geese, and swans, will peak during the Finger Lakes Birding Festival March 26-29. Visit http://montezuma.audubon.org for details.
