This year, Library Advocacy Day looked a little different! Instead of racing around the NYS Capitol, we held Zoom sessions with our local legislators. Thank you to Assemblyman Friend, Assemblyman Jeff Gallahan, Assemblymember Kelles, Assemblyman Lemondes, Assemblyman Manktelow, Assemblyman Palmesano, Senator Akshar, Senator Mannion, and Senator Oberacker for meeting with us to discuss the importance of fully funding libraries! We’re looking forward to meeting with Senator Helming on March 9th. Thank you to all of the library advocates that turned out to speak on behalf of libraries, including those from our member libraries and our neighbors in Southern Tier Library System, Four County Library System, and South Central Regional Library Council. #LAD21
It's National Library Workers Day, part of National Library Week! Thank you to all of the staff in our member libraries and here at the Finger Lakes Library System for all of the work that you do. You are amazing! Nominate a library worker as a Star for the ALA-APA Galaxy of Stars: https://ala-apa.org/nlwd/. #NLWD21 #NationalLibraryWeek
Help make history by sharing your story of the COVID-19 pandemic. Just as we relied on information about the Spanish Flu epidemic in 1917-1918 to inform our response to COVID-19, future generations may benefit from understanding what we experienced. By collecting your stories, we become witnesses-to-history, providing insight into daily life during this global pandemic and adding to the historic record. How can you get involved? Please take some time to fill out the form at https://tinyurl.com/shareyourstory-flls and feel free to share with your friends, family members, and neighbors the more people participate, the better understanding we’ll have of the impact of COVID-19.
Do you struggle figuring out what keywords to include on your resume? Do you need help with your resume design elements? Do you know how to really showcase your value to potential employers?
