Easter Morning Service of Worship, 2021 - He is Risen! <3

First Presbyterian Church of Oneonta 22.05.2021

FPCO is pleased to participate in the community's Stations of the Cross event, as Station 7. View a painting of 'Angels in the tomb with Jesus' corpse' through the church's front door (that's right, you can't see it clearly -death is a dark and shadowy thing), picking up a brochure if you wish. Then make your way back behind the church to the cemetery, gazing through the locked gates over the domain of death, but remembering: on Easter morning, Jesus' resurrection shatters the fetters of death, setting humanity free. As the Apostle Paul writes, "So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new!" (2 Corinthians 5:17)

Today is the one year anniversary of the first death in Otsego County directly attributable to Covid-19. Thanks to Eva & Carolyn, Luz, Jean, Chris, Libby & Ian, and Rev. Mark for being there to ring the bell and to support! We rang the bell once for each person who has died over the course of the last year. Sadly, we rang the bell 55 times.

At 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 27 we will be ringing our church bell to remember the victims who have lost their lives to COVID-19 in Otsego County. This marks the the one-year anniversary of the first death in Otsego County, and we will ring it one time for each victim. Please take a moment of reflection as you hear the bells ring.
