Sunday March 28, 2021 11 AM Program Our Sunday 11:00 AM Programs are in person with masks and social distancing. They are followed by a Coffee Hour with the same provisions for safety. All are welcome to participate.... The Numbers Behind Why Pride Is Still Needed Despite increases in LGBTQ visibility in the media and recent legal victories, there continue to be disparities in a number of important areas, such as employment, healthcare, mental health, and the law, where LGBTQ individuals, families, and youth fall short compared to their non-LGBTQ counterparts. This presentation will showcase some of those areas and demonstrate that continued need for celebrating Pride. Ronald Zenon Piaseczny, JD, LMHC For those who choose not to attend in person, we make our Programs available on Zoom. Sometimes we have a speaker who presents part of the Program by Zoom. In those cases we show the portion of the Program from them on the big screen to our live participants in the auditorium. For those participating remotely by Zoom, use the links below to connect to Zoom. This is a recurring Zoom meeting for our 11:00 AM Sunday Program so save it for future use. Sunday January 31: The "Other," Reflexivity, and Examining Privilege Cultural anthropologist Amanda Buonopane, daughter of Joan Davis, will be returning to speak to us again on anthropological ways of understanding others. She will take us through the concept of reflexivity, or recognizing how your own position becomes the lens through which you think about others. These ideas have an immediate bearing on all of us, given the division in our society and inequalities (of race, class, sexual preference, etc.). By examining the role of privilege (and our own privileges) we can work to break down barriers and gain a better understanding of others and the structural inequities that impact their lives.

December 13: Novelty Description: Christmas 2020 is a good day to curl up with a good novel (any novel that doesn't have a character called "Scrooge"). We'll be celebrating the power of the novel to connect us with distant times and places, and distant friends and relatives. John Snodgrass

November 22: True Grit - Defining Courage We tend to associate the word "courage" with extraordinary acts and extraordinary people, but the truth is, we are all courageous, and not just at one time or another, but throughout our lives. Strength and courage are many things, and to say we are not strong, or not courageous is to deny our own sense of inherent worth. What are the ingredients for having "true grit," and how do we integrate these various traits into our lives every day? Speaker: Donna Evans-Deyermond via ZOOM
