Dear Fishers Island Community: I hope this finds you well. Due to the forecasted winter storm, Fishers Island School will pivot to Remote Learning for Wednesda...y, December 16th and Thursday, December 17th. The current forecast calls for the snow to begin later in the day/evening on Wednesday and continue into Thursday. However, the Fishers Island Ferry is still evaluating the ability to run tomorrow's 4:45 pm trip. Since this is the last scheduled trip of the day (and without a midday boat on Wednesdays), we run the risk of students/staff being unable to return home should the 4:45 pm be canceled. Based on how the storm plays out, I will send a communication on Thursday evening concerning whether we will also need Remote Learning on Friday, December 18th. As was the case with our two previous Remote Learning weeks, high school students will follow their regular schedule. Elementary students should follow instructions/schedules sent through email by their teacher. We will send students home with all the necessary materials for learning this afternoon. West End of Isabella road is closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic until further notice. Access to properties and beach is through East side of Isabella road only. A power outage on Isabella road last night resulted in an unrepairable underground burn. Temporary power has been run above ground to restore service to those affected. This condition as well as an open trench along this stretch of road creates an unsafe environment making the road impassable. For your own safet...y please stay clear of the active worksite on the west end of the road and access homes from east end of Isabella Road only. Fishers Island Electric Corporation is actively working to correct this issue as soon as possible however it may be a few days before the project is fully completed. Thank you for your cooperation. Saturday, December 5th - Cancelled Trip Due to adverse weather conditions the 3:30 / 4:45 trip has been cancelled. The 6:15 / 7:00 trip is tentative pending a 5:00 PM weather update upon which a decision will be made.

Monday, November 30 2020 Delayed Trip The afternoon 3:30/4:45pm run is delayed leaving New London by 35 minutes due to excessive southerly winds. The ferry will depart Fishers as soon as possible after arrival.
