Flexible Systems has added a new feature behind our building a portable ice rink! We have partnered with Pit Hockey, Inc., a pop-up startup venture that is piloting a new hockey training concept. Our owners met at Stony Brook University through the hockey team many years ago. Without hockey, Flexible Systems would probably not exist. Hockey teaches many important lessons including, how to work together and persevere. Our owners have always wanted to give back to the hockey community, and view Pit Hockey, Inc. as the perfect way to do this. The hope is to provide an outlet for kids that have had their hockey seasons canceled due to the pandemic. #partnersonice

The holidays are here again and the time has come for our annual Flexible Holiday Drive. As in years past, Flexible has partnered with Whip Pediatric Cancer to spread a little joy to children battling pediatric cancer and their families during the holiday season. This year, in lieu of toys, our employees donated to the "gift card tree". These cards will be delivered by Jordan Belous, founder of WHIP Pediatric Cancer and member of the Flexible Family, during one of her many of her visits to the Ronald McDonald house in Manhattan. Learn more about Whip Pediatric Cancer and why Flexible has chosen to support it by clicking https://whippediatriccancer.org/ .

Despite the rain, Flexible's softball team played their last fall season game last night. It's great to see our employees working as a team both in and out of the office!

Recently Flexible employee Frank and his wife took their Sunday School class out for their bi-annual Sunday School kids’ outing. They shared lessons on how to build good character, ate pizza, and played mini-golf, laser tag, and went go-karting at Country Fair. It sounds like they had a great time!

Flexible employee Ariela Pelaia recently had the chance to volunteer with her son at the Vermont Dressage Days annual horse show. They ran the awards booth and handed out test scores to riders participating in the show. Proceeds from Vermont Dressage Days benefit two Vermont charities, Steps to End Domestic Violence and The Dorset Equine Rescue Inc.

Flexible employee Sarah recently visited her sister in Ohio and had the chance to volunteer at Back To The Wild, Castalia, Ohio, a wildlife rehabilitation center. Back to the Wild rescues and provides assistance for injured local wildlife such as owls, bobcats, falcons, eagles, bats and more. Each year, the organization rescues around 2,500 animals and provides educational programs to over 50,000 people. Just recently, Sarah’s sister, Brittany, rescued a bald eagle in a kayak. While there, Sarah assisted with morning rounds of feeding and replenishing water for the animals while her sister cleaned cages. She also spent time helping prepare for an educational program that was happening at the rehabilitation center.

Ok big news!!!! Bare with me! SO. Here we go. When Tessa died in 2017 I was broken. I went back and forth with my parents whether or not to continue Whip Pediat...ric Cancer. I spent the remainder of the summer after Tessa passed laying low and deciding how I wanted to proceed. I decided that there was nothing better to do to honor her than to save more kids. Because what happened to Tessa I was certain could never happen again. I wanted to fund a trial that would directly benefit the type of cancer Tessa had. Unfortunately, fundraising is a hard task to tackle. It takes hundreds of people to raise a significant amount of money that will actually make a dent in funding trials. And in the interim I lost kids that I loved with all of my heart. Charlotte, Karma, Riley Rose, Corey, Kimi, Lola, Imke and Trinity. Just to name a few. So many times I felt defeated. But these kids don’t give up so neither will I. Ok, so here’s the exciting part!!!!!!!!!!! Tonight I was honored at the top donor recognition as a member of the 1884 Society. Out of thousands of donors, only 58 foundations in the history of MSK fundraising has raised over 100,000 dollars and are a member of this society. I got to see 3 men who are celebrities in my eyes. Dr. Laquaglia, Dr. Modak and Dr Kuschner. What I’ve been fighting for is exactly what I was told tonight. Dr. Modak said are you from Whip Pediatric Cancer? And I said yes and he told me that A LARGE PART OF WHIP PEDIATRIC CANCER FUNDING WERE THE LAST DOLLARS THEY NEEDED TO PUT A NEW NEUROBLASTOMA TRIAL IN THE CLINIC. Bispecific antibody was funded by US!!!!!!! (Hu3f8-BsAb ) this will help patients with relapse or refractory neuroblastoma, osteosarcoma and other solid tumor cancers. This drug is something that the neuroblastoma community has been waiting for. And to put the cherry on top, our favorite guy Elijah is the second person in the world to try out this therapy. And his mom believes this is going to be THE TREATMENT to save her son. Because pediatric cancer is so rare, the only way these doctors can do these innovative trials is by private donations. So YOU and all of us together ARE GOING TO Whip Pediatric Cancer. We did it. But we’re not stopping until there’s a cure. Thank you guys for all of your love & support - Jordan #WhipPediatricCancer
