Collector's Corner at the Friends of the Library Book Sale

A first edition (with a scruffy DJ, but nice otherwise)

We have several first editions by Ted Hughes, including some of his amazing collaborations with Leonard Baskin.

The Friends of the Tompkins County Public Library in Ithaca have been given somewhere on the order of six thousand topo maps for our Spring 2021 fundraising book sale, maps that need to find good homes with hikers, climbers, and other outdoors enthusiasts. The maps were donated by the former Ithaca office of the United States Geological Service (USGS), and they'll be available at the upcoming spring sale, which will run three long weekends from May 1 to May 17th at 509 Esty S...t., Ithaca. We'll have the popular 1:24000 scale (7.5 minute quadrangle) USGS maps for sale, as well as the earlier 1:62500 scale (15 minute quads) USGS maps. Our coverage of the state with the 7.5" maps is almost complete; the 15" maps cover about 40% of the state. We have multiple copies of many of the titles in both scales. The price of the 7.5" maps start at $1.50/ea at the start of the sale and drop every day until the 17th when they're $.10/ea. The 15" maps may be sold for a higher price (but nothing will be priced higher than $4.50 ever!). We'll have maps for sale by other publishers too, including a selection of NYC metro area highway maps by Hagstrom dating from the 1950s, in addition to a selection of other vintage oil company road maps.
