The Food Education Fund Alumni Accelerator is a business accelerator program with a focus on changing the fut...ure of which people, and what communities get to own and prosper from the creation of new enterprises. For far too long the restaurant and food business industry has not provided enough opportunity for diversity and equity at the highest ranks. This hands-on and in-depth program prepares and empowers our alumni to pitch their own business ideas to a real panel of potential business partners. TW: Gun Violence Research shows that society views Black and Brown students as older and less innocent than similarly aged White students. When we do this, we deny Black and Brown students the safety of being seen as a child. We don't allow space for mistakes, we don't allow space for dreaming big, and we don't respect the physical and mental stages that students are going through. Had the police seen Adam Toledo as the 13-year-old boy that he was, he would very likely still ...be here with us today. While we anxiously await the verdict in the trial of Derek Chauvin with the rest of our community, we need to addressthe dehumanization and institutionalized racism before we can expect change.
