This is an uncertain time as educators and health professionals work together to determine the best way to safely return to school. We strongly agree that children learn best in the classroom and advocate that most children return to school in accordance with their school district’s plan. We also recognize that there may be personal or family circumstances that prevent this from being a safe option. No single plan will suit every family. Your school district’s administrat...ion has been working tirelessly to make the return, whether in person or remote, as smooth as possible. However your child restarts their education this fall, they will be successful with your loving support, guidance and advocacy. Help them to be organized and set up a daily routine. Communicate their needs to their educators. Together with continued hand washing, mask wearing, prudent social distancing, and most importantly, respect for others, we can all get through this difficult transition. The providers of Forestream Pediatrics are here for you as well as your children. Please call when you are concerned about symptoms your child may be experiencing- including but not limited to: fever of 100.4 or higher, cough, nasal congestion, loss of sense of taste or smell, or recent COVID-19 exposure. Or perhaps the anxiety they feel about COVID itself. Thank you for entrusting your child’s care to us.

. Happy Fourth of July Everyone! As we celebrate with families and friends this weekend, please continue to to be mindful of continued caution with wearing masks, washing hands and social distancing. After a conversation yesterday with Gail Burstein, our Erie County Health Commissioner, it has become clear that although the hospital numbers are continuing to decrease in WNY, those that are admitted to the hospitals with COVID are now primarily in the 20-40 year old age range. We don’t want you or your family members to be the next statistic. Do it for you, your family and your community.

Hello families! We hope you have all remained well during the COVID Pandemic and are continuing to socially distance, wear masks and are continuing to perform frequent hand washing. As of tomorrow, we are back to our normal hours of operation: Monday-Thursday 8:30am- 7:30pm Friday 8:30am- 4:30pm... Saturday 8:00am- 11:30am We are asking that anyone 2 years of age and older to wear a mask THROUGHOUT your visit in the office. Please wait in your car for your appointment, but notify us of your arrival by phone call while in the parking lot. Our nurses will call you by phone to come in and will direct you into the freshly sanitized room. We continue ask that only ONE parent accompany the patient and that no siblings or other family members attend the visit. We would like all patients to sign up for the portal so that all forms can be sent directly to you when needed. We currently have availability for well child checks and are booking as early as this week. If your child needs a school physical this summer, consider booking now before the summer rush!

This year’s Administrative Professionals Day and Nurse’s Day were overshadowed by the Corona virus. Our in-office workers have been working diligently with crews from home to allow us to have 3 separate teams, minimizing the risk of contagion to the entire office staff. The decision to operate this way was made on short notice, but the team effort to make it work was second to none. We have never been prouder of the camaraderie and work ethic that has been displayed over the ...past 2 months. The service to our patients has been exemplary with an effort to provide medical support through phone calls, and video visits, as well as in office visits. Staff have sanitized rooms and worked diligently to keep patients safe while in the office. We can honestly say we have never been prouder of this team, and are happy to celebrate their extra efforts to accommodate the patient’s and practices’ needs during this difficult time. Thank you to the employees of Forestream Pediatrics for their loyalty and professionalism!! See more

With Spring comes an increase in tick bites. Try to avoid getting bitten by wearing clothing that fully covers extremities while walking in tall grasses, woods and brush. Treat clothing and gear with 0.5% permethrin or other EPA registered insect repellents. Thoroughly check yourself and your pets upon return to your home. Showering within 2 hours of being outdoors will help decrease the risk of getting Lyme disease and will remove the insect repellant from your skin. The attachment below discusses how to remove a tick if it were to become embedded. If possible, save the removed tick in rubbing alcohol for identification and testing and then contact us at the office for further evaluation.

We are requiring all patients and parents to wear masks throughout their visit at the office. Below is a quick tutorial on how to make one without sewing it using a bandanna and 2 hair ties.
