Breaking news!! Official Town of Bethel Dog Park tote bags! $20.00 each donation to the dog park. You can buy them at the Bethel Town Hall (see Dina Sturm) or... watch for announcements when dog park committee members will be selling them at the park. To All, Update regarding Parks: Our number one priority here in the Town of Bethel is the public safety of our residents and staff during this Corona virus p...ublic health emergency. In regards to our public parks and playgrounds and until further notice: We have already closed off our children's playground facility on Old White Lake turnpike because we feel there is no way to properly sanitize the facility as required according to our current health guidelines and standards. We have also closed off the exercise equipment at the Forest Reserve in Smallwood for the same reasons. However, we are going to keep the Forest Reserve at Smallwood walking loop, hiking trails and Dog Park open with the following important restrictions: You must follow all social distancing guidelines and requirements for not having meetings or gatherings of too many people at one time or space as required. We will be monitoring daily with our paid staff and volunteers these public spaces, and will act if there are any violations. We do feel that we can satisfy both our public safety Corona Virus requirements and at the same time be able to afford our residents and their families the ability to responsibly use these public spaces for much needed outdoor recreation and reflection. To All, If anyone has an issue with dogs off leash please call 845-798-2340 which is the number for the Animal control officer, or if you have any other issues ...with dogs. (excessive barking etc) If you can please take a photo or video which will help if it goes to court. If she doesn't answer immediately please leave a message and she will get back to you. I have asked our Constables and Animal control officer to daily monitor the areas where we have been getting complaints and that will continue. If you call in a formal complaint it is required by the Animal control officer to have someone sign the complaint to make it enforceable in Court. But we will monitor the area daily for compliance. An important message from Town of Bethel Supervisor Daniel Sturm: 1) All Dogs are supposed to be on leash, except when in the Dog Park. (People are using t...he Forest Reserve Trails behind the Dog park to walk their dogs, but not keeping a leash on them) 2) The Dog Park will remain open, however all users must comply with all social distancing requirements, and no large gatherings allowed etc. etc. 3) Due to the Coronavirus, if these rules are not followed we may be forced to temporarily close the Dog Park.
