Coming in hot! Too early for a Chai Old Fashioned? This one calls for some fresh nutmeg. Anyone else using nutmeg in their cocktails? This stuff adds drama to your drinks. I use fresh nutmeg in a variety of cocktails with ingredients like rum, whiskey, citrus or bitters. Did you know back in the day this stuff was more expensive than gold + was used as a mild narcotic?! Here’s a quick recipe to get you through this evening. Chai Old Fashioned 2 oz. Irish Whiskey oz. bro...wn sugar-chai syrup 3 dashes Fee Brothers Walnut Bitters Tools: barspoon, strainer Glass: rocks Garnish: orange twist, grated nutmeg Add all ingredients to a mixing glass and stir! Serve over one large rock! If you don’t have the ice you can sip on this without it. Don’t stress. Which bars in your neighborhood serve an amazing hot buttered rum? Tag them here so I can go try them all during the storm! * 1 Stick of Butter (room temperature - unsalted) * 2/3 cup of Dark Spiced Rum * 2/3 cup of Light Brown Sugar * 1/2 Teaspoon of Ground Cinnamon * Pinch of Ground Nutmeg * Pinch of Ground Cloves * 2 Cups of almost boiling water 1. Mix your butter and sugar in a bowl 2. Add all of your spices and rum to the bowl 3. Top with the hot water and stir until butter melts and sugar dissolves 4. Ladle into mugs and garnish with a cinnamon stick or orange peel This makes about 4 servings!
