The following is a response from the Fort Plain Police Benevolent Association in regards to the letter posted on 12/01/2020 by the Village of Fort Plain Board of Trustees.
As you may recall, the Fort Plain PBA had the honor of donating money to "Cops for Kids with Cancer" earlier this year after having been contacted by Colleen Thompson. Colleen runs in marathons across the country supporting Cops for Kids and raising money along the way to aid families with the expensive costs of cancer treatment. Colleen was set to run in the 124th annual Boston Marathon back in April. Unfortunately like many events, the Boston Marathon was cancelled due to Covid-19 and rescheduled to take place in September. The Marathon however, ended up being cancelled altogether with the option to run the 26.2 mile race virtually. Colleen completed her virtual race on September 14th and had shared her experiences with us in the letter below.
Update to our previous post: The 2020 Boston Marathon has been postponed to September 14th, 2020 due to the effects of the Coronavirus. The Fort Plain PBA is proud to support "Cops for Kids with Cancer" and will continue to do so during these trying times in our country. We look forward to supporting this wonderful cause and many other causes alike. ... Please stay safe and stay healthy!
