When Jesus gave Simon a new name Peter it was because He could see who Peter could become. Simon was an impulsive, brash young man who promised more than he could deliver, yet when Jesus looked at him He saw Peter, the rock on which He would build His church. Simon was his old self, his old identity, while Peter was his new self and new identity. It took years of growth, but Peter eventually lived into his new name and identity. When Jesus looks at us, He sees us no...t only as we are, but as we can be. The progress may not be straightforward growth, but with God’s help we can become the person He created us to be. In what ways is God calling you to grow today? For more of Pastor Jan’s thoughts about Simon becoming Peter, visit fpcendicott.org/sermons or the FPC: Endicott page on YouTube. #fpcendicott #livinghopechurch #youbelonghere #SimonPeter #DBA #Jesusseeswhowecanbe See more

FPC Endicott is part of an international partnership with a local church and community leaders in two parts of the Samana Peninsula - Abu Grande and Agua-Sabrosa - in the Dominican Republic. Mission projects over the past ten years have included building a school, church, building or renovating homes, improving water systems and drainage, and leading summer Bible School. In Agua-Sabrosa, the group started a local school from pre-K to 3rd grade. They also brought Young Life... to this community and sent many local children to YL camp and now have a weekly discipleship through Bible Study. They rented a baseball field and volleyball court, hired several coaches, and have formed a local baseball team and volleyball team. A sewing class is being offered to local moms who are interested in learning a trade and a music teacher was hired to teach children to play musical instruments. The mission group hired a dentist to provide dental care for the residents of Agua-Sabrosa for the first time. The goal of this partnership is to connect with the community and show the love of Jesus in both action and Word. This community has seen a great spiritual change as the Light of the world is penetrating the long years of darkness. Future plans are to build a second floor on their school for community use and Young Life gathering area. The 8-person staff is composed of 4 school teachers, 3 coaches, and 1 sewing and music teacher. The monthly budget for this mission outreach is $3,000. FPC Endicott partners with global mission groups as a way to help spread the Good News of God's love to a hurting world. Part of the church's budget is dedicated to this and other mission efforts. There is more information about FPC Endicott's mission work, and ways to support this effort, on the website at fpcendicott.org under "Next Steps." #fpcendicott #youbelonghere #globalmission #DominicanRepublic #shareGodslove #helpyourneighbor

When did the word mission become an adjective??! The word missional arose to describe the heart and the lifestyle of people who want to reflect the heart of Jesus. People who truly embody the mission and the message of Jesus have a missional heart. People with a missional heart love Jesus; they love one another; they love those who do not yet know Jesus . . . and their lives reflect those priorities and passions.... Being missional is much more than supporting a charity or serving in a mission project or program. It’s about embodying mission so that we live every day as visible and tangible expressions of Jesus’ heart. Join us in the next few weeks as we think about aligning our hearts with Jesus’ heart, out of gratitude, joy, and obedience. #fpcendicott #missionalheart #gratitude #joy #obedience #stewardship

"If only..." How many of us have had those moments - when we realize almost immediately that we have made a bad choice? Humanity's "if only" moment came when Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. "If only" they had obeyed God, we think, the world would not be in the mess it is today. But deep in our hearts, we know that we would have done the same thing, because humans are inexplicably drawn to what they should not have. The ...Good News is - Jesus provides us a way Home, back to right relationship with God. He can turn our "if only" into "but still." "If only" we had not sinned, "but still" we can be reconciled to God and to each other. Jesus is our tree of life, offering us the gifts of salvation and eternal life, if we will only turn to Him. Have you accepted this amazing gift? To hear more of Pastor Jan's thoughts about God' s plan for redemption, you can find Sunday's sermon at fpcendicott.org/sermons or on YouTube on the FPC Endicott page. #fpcendicott #youbelonghere #stayconnected #ifonlybutstill #Godsplanforsalvation #Jesussaves #comeHometoGod See more
