Thanks Jeff and Ellen Schardt for supporting Sweet Sensations. And thanks for the years of volunteering to help make this event the fun evening and successful fundraising event that it has become. We couldn't do it without you.
Today we thank Jim and Chris Longo for their support for "Sweet Sensations". Also a heartfelt thanks to Chris for coming to my rescue when my computer crashed earlier this year, and for answering countless questions regarding how to retrieve information that I thought was lost forever. Thanks and God Bless you for your kindness.
Good Morning Doctor Brian Anderson and thank you for supporting "Sweet Sensations". And thanks for all you do as a volunteer at the Poverello Clinic. Your medical expertise paired with your amazing kindness and sense of humor help to heal the patients spiritually and emotionally as well as physically.
Our heartfelt thanks goes out to the Mannion's. Pat and Gwyn have been friends of the ministry (and of JP and and I for that matter) for quite some time. Thanks for always being there for us to help us with our outreach efforts, and on a personal note, for the many Syracuse baseball games we have enjoyed.
Today we extend our thanks to Armand and Joan Cincotta for their support of "Sweet Sensations". Not only do they support this event each year, they can be found serving up pancakes and manning the coffee station at the monthly pancake breakfasts. Dr. Cincotta also volunteered at our medical clinic for the uninsured. Thank you and God Bless you
Like so many non profits, due to Covid-19 we could not hold our major fundraiser this year. We appealed to our previous "Sweet Sensations" supporters for help, and the response was heartwarming. God bless you, and thank you for your kindness. Over the next several weeks we will highlight these generous supporters. If you are interested in becoming a partner in ministry by making a donation, please call Sr. Dolly at (315) - 423-9961 or visit assumptionsyr.org/give and mention "Sweet Sensations" in the gift notes section.
Our Franciscan Northside Ministries' Legal Clinic offers free legal assistance, advice, and referrals to those in need.
Last week we got a call from one of our patients. A diabetic who had gotten a prescription for Januvia. You can imagine his shock when he went to the pharmacy and for a 90 day supply the bill was $1,500.00. Thanks to the doctors of the Poverello who are so kind and generous, we put out an APB for Januvia and got enough samples to carry our patient through the next 3 months.
I'm not a Doctor, but I play one on TV. OK, I don't play one on TV either, but I do try to bring a little comic relief to the clinic whenever I can. Say aaahhhh, or whatever you do with this thing.
We opened the medical clinic with great success. We will be reopening the Franciscan Legal Clinic on Tuesday, July 7. We are indebted to the attorneys who have provided the best in legal advice to residents of Syracuse's north side and beyond for the past 20 years. Please call for an appointment. 315-423-9961.
Well, last week, we said thanks to the Nurses, NPs and Doctors who helped us reopen the Poverello, and where would we be without them??? But...don't forget the support staff who clean and disinfect the rooms between patients, sign people in, pull charts, make photo copies and do countless other tasks. Thanks Ross, and all of the other folks who volunteer in this capacity. We are truly grateful.
And where would we be without the guidance and dedication of Dr. Daly? Always availale when we need him, always kind and compassionate to patients, staff and volunteers alike. Dennis was our 2nd volunteer physician at Poverello and the only one who has been committed to more than 20 years of volunteer service for the uninsured who come through our doors. Thanks Dennis, we couldn't do it without you!
Another hero from the Poverello...Suzanne RN. Taking a temp on Stephanie, our 1st patient as we reopen the Poverello. To assure the safety of patients and volunteers, all staff wears mask, face shield, gloves and gowns. Social distancing is maintained at all times, patients must wear masks, and exam rooms and triage areas are disinfected after each patient is seen. Thanks Suzanne for being our initial contact person for the patients.
Open for business. These 4 ladies are some of our heroes here at Poverello. Making history as we open our doors for the first time, since March when the effects of Covid-19 hit hard in CNY. We are grateful to Patti our NP extraordinaire, and 3 incredible nurses...Sister JP, Judy and Katie for reaching out to the uninsured offering the finest in healthcare and compassion.
Sister JP has been working diligently getting ready to open the Poverello Clinic for our patients. Remember, our services are for the uninsured only. Our projected start date is this Wednesday, June 10 from 6 p.m.-7:30p.m. Things will look a bit different as they do everywhere. Please wear a mask and maintain social distancing at all times. To make an appointment call 315-423-9961.
