Good evening everyone!!! Posting a bit of an update. The NYC Parks Department has begun sending out safety agreements to everyone who applied for event permit...s. We have returned ours and received the final approval to have ICD NYC on August 28th (See "Events" for the actual event page). We will be required to do a large amount of safety precautions to keep the permit and fully hold the event. This includes: 1) Everyone wearing masks throughout the event. We will be required to have a supply of masks there so anyone who comes without one or forgets ones, we'll have you covered. 2) Hand sanitizer. We'll be required to have a supply on hand for anyone needing it. We're looking into having logo-ed ones but we'll at least have the travel bottles. 3) Social distancing. This will be tricky given area but we''ll figure out how to set up picnic spaces six feet from each other. 4) Hand washing. While this isn't something we will have to monitor and make sure of, we were able to move back, relatively, to the spot we used to use near the Museum of Natural History. That is a short walk to the bathrooms by the Shakespeare in the Park Amphitheater, which will be open the whole time. 5) Negative COVID tests. All ICD NYC Crew will be required to take the COVID test before the event. 6) Contact tracing. THIS will be the trickiest part of the event. We will need to have a sign in list for info on everyone who comes so in case someone tests positive for COVID following the event, proper tracing can happen (confidentially) to make sure everyone else gets tested. As we get closer to the event we'll figure out the best way to create the sign in sheets or come up with an alternative option. Stay tuned for that. So that's the bulk of things to expect. We're set for August 28th with the full Central Park Special Event Permit for an approx five hour event. Last piece of stuff.... Get...the...COVID...vaccine!!! I wish I didn't need to say it but I'm sure there are people on the page who either refuse to get it, are hesitant to get it, scared to get it, or other reasons. Get! It! Either both shots of Pfizer/Moderna or the one shot of Johnson & Johnson. With that said, NY now has the Excelsior Pass. Two weeks after receiving the second dose of Pfizer/Moderna or two weeks after the Johnson & Johnson, you can get a QR code via a new app. The code can be scanned to show that you were vaccinated. It was opened recently after being tested as Barclays and Madison Square Garden. For those patiently waiting for the Kingdom Hearts issue, it's finished and in the proofreading stage. This will be the Jan/Feb 2021 issue so will have our cosp...lay couples showcase too in honor of VDay. Also featuring a master of KH cosplays: ManaKnight Cosplay. Stay tuned for that! We were planning to do Demon Slayer for March/April but haven't gotten a good amount of cosplayers from it. If you or anyone you know cosppay from Demon Slayer then message us or comment here.
