Friends of Pueblo to People 28.12.2020

Hello Everyone, I wanted to let you know about a few things going on with Pueblo to People. We had a very busy December with a successful string of Fair Trade sales. We made $350 from sales and donations. We sold items from SERRV and coffee from San Lucas, Guatemala. Our sales were so warmly received that we had to place a second order in the middle of December. Thanks to my super team of sales people: Gretchen Brown, Jen Carrino, Deb Quackenbush, Laura Giordano, Margaret ...Keys, and Rebecca Salzer. Pueblo would not have been able to do this without you. Thank you!!!!! A special thank you to Trudy for knitting all of those beautiful lap blankets and baby hats. The blankets were all bought to be given to the residents at Welsley nursing home in Argyle. The hats were donated to the Catholic Daughters baby clothing drive. The Our Lady of Guadalupe celebration at St. Patricks was warmly received. Everyone participated. The smaller children wore ponchos reminiscent of Juan Diego who saw the apparition of Our Lady. The Roger and Elise learned a special Spanish song, La Guadalupana, to play while everyone processed. The whole parish was invited to join the procession carrying the battery lit roses to place in a vase at the altar. Our special guest, Patty Schwartz, told the story of Juan Diego and how he saw the apparition of Our Lady. We all said the Hail Mary in Spanish. After Mass, we had a coffee hour served with Mexican hot chocolate and treats. We hope to continue this celebration next year and have a meal together after Mass. Patty Schwartz has had the opportunity to take the money that we collected from the Fiesta Dinner and raffle last fall to El Salvador. She has told me that Sr. Elena and the nuns at our sister school, Jesuina Melsi, in El Salvador were so grateful and appreciative of our assistance. The economy has been very difficult in El Salvador and fewer students can afford the tuition to go to school. With our help, the students can stay in school. I want to bring to your attention the attachment to this email. I had the opportunity to attend the regional Pueblo to People meeting last Sunday in Delmar. The minutes of the meeting are attached for you to review. St. Vincents has been doing an interesting project with Scholastic Books. They take orders for books and then they get credits to buy Spanish books for their sister parish. We might want to consider that for our sister school. If you have any ideas of something you’d like to do with Pueblo to People, please let me know. Thanks! Linda Salzer 518-677-5702
